Something a little different

By apapasmurf73, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

I have a little in store tourny coming up next week and as my previous list got FAQed to death (don't get me started) I am trying something different. I have yet to be able to run Sato successfully and would really like to get him working in a fleet. With that in mind I give you

I am allergic to Sloan (actually my hate for her seethes and is pushing me closer to the dark side) hence the EWS

EWS on small ships isn't great. CR90s have a small side arc so enemy ships can often fire at the front or rear instead. If a CR90 is front on to significant enemy forces then they often don't last long. Facing fighters it is even worse as they usually activate with a squadron command (CR90s rarely fly into the midst of bomber formations). It is easy for a speed 4 Imperial fighter to attack a unobscured hull zone that is only 2cm away from the one protected by the EWS.

XI7s are great for large volley ships but a CR90 rarely does more than 2-3 damage so brace that and redirect the other means XI7s are just wasted points. If ACMs are firing at longer ranges with Sato your HHs are shredding shields anyway so no need to puncture through with XI7s.

Ditch the EWS and change XI7s to TRCs. Spend the other 18 points on more fighters or a Flotilla to command them. At the moment you have 8 squadrons and not enough ships to command them effectively. If you aren't squadroning aggressively a Sloane list will wallop 4-5 of your squadrons before the turn 2 squadron phase comes along. You could look to replace quantity with quality and maybe a few rogues to help out the squadron activations. Or look at an AFIIB with Boosted comms, Raymus/Vet captain and Flight controllers to help support your own fighters.

You have to declare the EWS side for each ship at the start of each round, so a sloane list will simply command squads to go hit your non-EWS sides, made easier by your small ships' size and that the squads have to travel less. Cluster Bombs is a better bet if you find your cr90s die to sloane's squads

So its a terrible idea then, ah well hence the reason we list crunch. TRC is more of the same and I was trying to see if something else would work (as I know TRC90s work)

Sorry if that came off a bit snarky, I am feeling a bit crusty about the FAQ, I only play rebels and I feel that there have been nothing but nerfs to them whilst Imps have gotten the best of the recent upgrades (And why on god's green earth did Sloane need a FETHING BUFF?!?!? whew really needed to get that out)

Cheers

Alternately I drop Norra and Dutch for Sharra and Tycho

I personally think Sato works better with generic squadrons.
