I painted some of my Armada ships, but this is a whole other level. Stormtroopers are tedious, repetitive work…

Still have some base work to do… Excited to work on the rest of My army!

Still looking for some other good ideas to differentiate squads. I’m not sure yet if I can commit to colors/stripes on the armor.

Mighty fine models.

Given that there will be folks that don't worry too much about painting, I wouldn't worry too much about squad differentiation. If it bothered you, you could put a little bit of colour on the "o" shaped bit on the stormies back pack. That is small enough as to be hard to notice.

Painting white is tough, and you did very well! I'm not sure wether squad differentiation is needed, as you can just put your minis into base contacts when units get too close. Friendly units may not be in base contact with each other, so this is a good enough criterium.

I'm planning to mark my Stormtroopers bases to ID the ones that go together. I changed the pauldrons colors, so maybe some Roman numerals in that color on the base of the rim will be sufficient. Or the backpacks as Amanal pointed out (or even the typically blue helmet markings even can be changed).

Rebel troops are easier. Just different color schemes ID them.

At least use Aurebesh and not some dead language from the edges of the galaxy ;)

Your troops look great. I like the beige ones- looks like you shaded them in brown or sepia?

As far as differentiation, I am planning to base mine differently. However even a small pip painted in the base will do for keeping the units distinct in the game.

Yes. I shaded them with Army Painter’s “soft tone”. I think they are going to get a sand/desert base.

The pips or Roman numerals is a great idea! Easy and relatively hidden. Thanks!

Completed some more troops and bases. Pretty excited about the results. Not perfect but looks great on the table with some custom terrain by @Sword named Folly

Again excellent work, your basing style is really cool (really shines on the speeder bikes). Simple enough that it doesn't overwhelm the figure and interesting enough that it enhances the look by a lot, really a sweet spot few people manage to hit.

There is one advice I can give you I think. On some of your troopers the black bars on their chin are overfilled/not clean. You can avoid this by thinning your paint a bit more than normal (half-way between what you normally use and a wash I'd say) and then loading a brush with a fine point, letting the excess paint drain into a paper towel. With this you can reliably fill small crevices like those bar details with solid colour.

Anyhow, that's just a detail, the most important part of getting your base colour right is something you are already pretty good at. And that doing white!

Thanks! That’s great advice, I’ll take all I can get. The details are for sure the hardest. Trying to pull out depth was something I tried to get better at throughout. Some of those crevices were tough for sure. My next two troopers I’m going to try to better thin for details and then I’ve been trying to work on using a white dry brush to highlight

Looking good!

I've finally finished my army. Two core sets and an extra trooper. I have three little kids so painting time came at a premium. But I finally got it all done. I learned a lot through the process and feel pretty good about the results. Every trooper set I attempted to do something different or add a new detail skill that I was learning. Thanks for the advice and help to all. Custom terrain as always by @Sword named Folly

Vader leading his troops into battle (501st??). I was really proud of the eyes. Need to touch back up his helmet after the matt finish canceled out the nice sheen I had given it.
