Hi all

I am wanting to pain a Hoth theme for both rebels and imperials.

My imperial list will include Veers, 3x snow troopers and 2x ATST.

The rebels will include Luke, 3x rebel troopers and 2x T47.

The snow trooper models will help stick to theme but I am concerned about the rebels.

The current rebel troopers allow for a white scheme to fit the echo base look. I am just concerned that FFG might release dedicated rebel snow troops like they are doing with the imperials and then I would have preferred to keep these original rebel troops more neutral in colour.

Any thoughts if a snow theme is a wise idea for rebels?

Don't get me wrong but, why would they ? Rebel snow troopers are just rebel troopers in snow, where "snowtroopers" are a specific unit (in term of equipment and actions on the field). I do not see any rebel snow troopers being available...

Well, FFG saw fit to release a distinctly different unit/expansion in IA for Echo Base Troopers...

... I would not be surprised to see them at some point in the future.

Perhaps their artic-themed attire could be converted to unban camo if Hoth Rebel Troopers were subsequent released.

Maybe use Han’s uniform from Echo Base as a guide? It would fit in more on other boards and if they release Echo Base Troopers they would be distinct from them... all while still fitting the theme, if that matters for you.

I certainly wouldn’t rule out a future “Hoth” style rebel trooper unit. But that doesn’t mean your normal rebel troops decorated in that color become unuseable.

The only real answer has to come from you. How mad are you going to be if they release rebel snowtroopers in the future? How much enjoyment do you think you will have with your home mad snowtroopers between now and the release of “official” snowtroopers, and how much if your time is going to be spent playing on Hoth?

If you look closely at the existing Rebel Troopers and examine the figures knees, you will notice that some of them have a quilted pattern there. Those sculpts are actually based on the fatigues worn on Hoth, though not the same caps they wore. I intend to paint everything as close to the movie appearance as possible and I noticed this while going through the copious reference photos available for the costumes used.

The alien in particular looks like he’s in the Hoth Uniform.

Id be absolutely amazed if they dont release Hoth themed rebel troops down the line.

I could see Hoth themed rebels being released down the line maybe in conjunction with some Hoth themed items. maybe Golan DF.9 turrets or Atgar Cannons as seen during the battle of Hoth.

I wouldn't let the fear of figures "maybe" being released stop me from painting my rebels how ever I wanted. Go for it and enjoy.

Love those. I can’t believe you have had time to do 6 squads of rebel troopers. I’m still on my first two units of Stormtroopers and the rebels are only primed.

Based in the fact that you have six identical units I’m guessing you plan to play a lot on a snowy board?
