What is going on with Unlimited Power?

By HeWhoLaffs, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny RPG

Now I know FFG's status page is no where near the most reliable thing, but Unlimited Power has been listed as "On the Boat" since 12/21/17. So as of next week it will be 4 months that it's been "On the Boat." Whatever boat it's on could actually have departed for the US and returned back home in this time. Does anyone else feel like it's actually just sitting in FFG's warehouses and they are waiting to release it for whatever reason? Maybe Dawn of Rebellion coming out recently made them not want to release two books close together, or maybe they are waiting until May the Fourth to release it.

The long and short of it is, the status page is completely unreliable. No one on these boards can say for sure what is going on.

Four books went to “On the Boat” at roughly the same time. (Five, if you count the D6 anniversary edition.)

With about 3-4 weeks between the releases of Dawn of Rebellion and Fully Operational, it would seem that they are staggering the releases of those books so as not to drop $130 ($190 with the D6 set) SRP of books into stores at once.

Its actually a secret plot by me to keep people from being able to buy the books at release so I can get them easier.

My merry band of mercenaries make it difficult to deliver them. Right now I have Unlimited Power stashed in an undisclosed location that is not a beached tugboat on the French coast.

It depends on the shipping route of the container ship(assuming printing in China) . Some go pacific route others the Indian Ocean making stops along the way to the Atlantic.

Also account for the prospect that it can be held up in customs for inspection which is a long process.

Books will get here when they get here folks.

Lots of discussion here.

Amazon is showing it as an August 31 release. My guess is this book debuts at GenCon then. Amazon is also showing a release date of May 7th for the 30th Anniversary Star Wars RPG re-release... so I'm guessing Cyphers and Masks sometime in June maybe. Then the pipeline should be caught up.

Considering that on FFG`s front page there is an ad for pre-ordering Unlimited Power , I`d be surprised at an August release. My guess would be sometime in May. I have nothing to back that up of course, lol, it just seems odd to advertise for the pre-order of the third book in the schedule, without saying anything about the first two to be released. It seems like FFG`s schedule is all over the place, I often wonder if even they know what``s supposed to be released when!

True. I’m pretty sure a lot of these products are at FFG as we speak (like Unlimited Power, Cyphers and Masks, and Star Wars 30th), they are simply staggering the releases at this point.

Keep in mind that Cyphers and Masks was also available for pre-order from the moment the product page existed, starting on August 18. And clearly that didn't mean that it was going to be released soon. More than eight months later, and we still can't see the end of that tunnel. And, if I recall correctly, that was the same day as the first Cyphers and Masks preview article, and it showed up on the scroll in the same way Unlimited Power is currently doing.

While we may be getting close, we can't use the scroll or the fact that they're accepting pre-orders as evidence to that fact.

I'd agree with you, but for the fact that Fully Operational will still not yet be on sale in the UK (and the rest of Europe?) next week, suggesting that FFG is printing a minimal amount of copies of its books. If you think it's frustrating waiting for SWRPG products in the US, you're at least front of the queue. Anyone outside the US appears to be getting the leftovers of copies unsold to American retailers, or waiting for reprints. I'm bewildered as to the business model here.

It really depends on how much capital they have to buy. I'm assuming they buy a set amount to make sure they don't have pallets of unsold books sitting in a warehouse and no buyers.
