And that new content was the Frostgate DLC. Ask yourself how long it has been since a physical product release, or a FAQ update... or even a news post.

So much so, that I am stunned on a daily basis, that this thread continues to get posts ...
I ask myself every day when I see new posts to this thread ... "Why doesn't this **** thread just DIE already ...?"
Hmmm ... I think I just kept it alive ... ? ? ? ... ?

That is not dead which can eternal lie. And with strange aeons even death may die.

Waiqar is the thread overlord, it will never die!

I remember when I bought Twilight Empire 3rd Ed. The two expansions had the status "awaiting reprint". 6 months went by, no reprints, and suddenly the 4th edition was announced. Needless to say I was pissed, because I wanted the expansions for my play sessions.
Honestly i hope for something like x-wing 2.0. I dont like the idea of throwing an entire collection out of the window.

Well you don't HAVE to throw it out the window. I still get 1e on the table and for traditional players of the game there's significantly more 2e. That said I think canning 2e right now would be a poor decision. They just released road to legend in 2016 and a significant number of people bought into the game for that. There are road to legend only players who just recently bought the whole thing trusting ffg's statements that they would be releasing content for RtL.
If you're one of those people and the canned date ends up being 2017, do you trust ffg again?

I'm pretty sure that u would have preferred more content for 1e rather than a new whole edition. Or maybe something in between just to upgrade the core system and then more content to expand the universe. However is hard enough to bring to the table just one edition of the game.

I wouldn't of course, and i'm sure that is not the case. It would be a stupid idea.

Well on the one hand 2e gets on the table much easier. I mostly play nights at a board game cafe, the circumstances heavily incentivize shorter games *shrug* thusly Imperial Assault gets table time even easier. Conversely I got rid of Mansions of Madness because ffg just couldn't manage to put out content for me, there was only one scenario short enough to be playable but I could buy an expansion to get one more.....2 games for $130....F that.
So I could see some utility in having a 3e which was a bit more of an imperial assault clone but on the other hand why the heck would I buy into it when playing gloomhaven with it's tons of content negates putting up with ffg's bad support and communication...

Would you not prefer an upgrade to 2e core mechanics still using all the content you already own?

I wouldn't. I far prefer D1e to D2e, in terms of the mechanics, how the game played, etc.
Unfortunately, D1e had some very serious balance issues, which simply were never properly addressed. D1e RTL added a campaign style to the game, which I very much liked, but again, major balance issues. Sea of Blood was an unmitigated disaster.
If FFG ever comes out with D3e, I would prefer a game closer to D1e. But, no matter what they produce, what I really want is for them to mother-******* play test the ever living **** out of the game. And then, I want them to hire professional writers and proof readers, so when they create cards, documentation, etc. there is complete consistency with key words, phrases, text, etc. Finally, when they do release it, SUPPORT the ever loving game ...
I would be willing to wait YEARS for this to be the case.

This. This right here is all I really want.

This was me and d1e, still missing those lieutenants, but I'm sort of happy-ish whatever happens next as working on my campaign and Genesys Terrinoth projects makes me realise I still have A LOT to work with even with these frustrating gaps. And if FFG can't make the old stuff then someone else will get the custom as I'll just have to find proxies or nobody will and I'll improvise (this razorwing is actually Darkwind, OK!)

1st edition had many flaws, but were all easily fixable and to this day is one of the most amazing dungeon crawlers of all times. It might not have the elegance of Imperial Assault, it might not grant you the wonderful campaign progression of other games, but nonetheless, it was just incredible. To this day I have people asking to play 1st edition, both in Campaign Mode and as standalone. So much depth in such a wonderful game. Grab it, if you can.
They're too busy releasing Runewars product than worrying about Descent. I don't really know how popular Runewars is though. I never see anyone play it though, so who knows. The miniatures are great for Descent games, though.
Oh yes, and of course Star Wars. Their precious Star Wars. X-Wing is probably the most popular of all their franchises. I see that constantly being played.

*shrug* they're holding a tournament at gencon so it would be pretty awkward if no one plays....but I've never seen it. My local game store devoted an isle to it and ended up clearencing everything. It's mostly still sitting there at 50% off....

At my local games stores I see Runewars on clearance or sale as well at 25-50% off and still sits there. Someone must buy and play the game otherwise why would they keep making expansions for it?

Probably throwing good money after bad. Some executive so invested in his decision to green light the game that they think they can create an audience for the product if they just keep pushing it out.
Edited by Proto PersonaI bought the Spearman expansion strictly to have Guards in my Descent Games. Maybe I'll buy some Reanimates for my Necromancer but buying a whole pack for one skeleton seems a bit much.
As for the actual game: It would be cool to own, but there are already so many miniatures games out there, Warhammer being the most well known.
I don't know if I have room to play it anywhere, honestly.
Yeah, as heavily clearanced as I've been finding this game....I just bought the core box for $30. So guards and reanimate here I come!
Ok after playing Runebound 3 (You should all buy it)... a Big box Urthuk Expansion is NEEDED (Act I trying to get inside a free city, Act II saving said free city) Allows for both types of travel cards too! And the missing Healer and Mage Classes
Al-Kalim Desert Small box with Two Dual Class and Isheim Ice Small Box with the final Dual Class.
Lots of Search cards! 3 New conditions, New Items and Relics and all Large Campaigns in Hardback with modular colour coded text to include all other expansions to pick and chose.
All Large campaigns, Including "Taint of the Mistlands" (MoB & CtR) on RtL.
Then we can allow them to move onto Decent 3 or maybe continue with this wild success of a game!
PS Hurry up with more Runebound 3 Scenario Expansions and Adventure Packs already! And the 2nd Box expansion needs a southern map expansion & timer expansion that can be played seperate or in conjunction with the 1st map to include Vynelvale. The big problem is they blocked off Greyhaven and Nerekhall ? ?
