Jank-wing, but a form of Jank-wing that incorporates aces, ordinance and one of the almost 70+ lists that I have created (and keep win/loss records on) with my strictly imperial faction ships (that do not include harpoons since no imperial ship has been sold that includes that
ludicrous
... uh, particular ordinance). And since I do not purchase non-Imperial expansions and hardly ever run Kylo, Palp or Quickdraw, I guess my wing is by definition jank. SO BE IT!!!
What wing is your wing?
#whatjank
I play and enjoy Meta-Ace-Wing.

Ordunance Or ordenance (both correct spellings btw) is french, shortenened to ord'nance as a misspronounciation/contraction by uneducated english grunts.
people trying to word snob about the spelling are actually correcting people who are also spelling it correctly.
its like if i said "you have" and you got all hot n bothered and chimed in"excuse me, but its 'you've' lol... btw im very smart"
its silly
Ehm... no?
There is a reason why we don't speak the way Shakespeare did. Language evolves. Archaic and foreign spellings of words are not considered correct. You may use them, but at that point you are being wrong on purpose, with no real justification for doing so.
Also, the word ordinance has a different meaning. Using it in this context defeats the purpose of language, which is clear communication. What you are doing is misleading and ignorant.
And your example of "You have" and "You've" is not really a fitting one. These contractions have the same meaning, are they are both use simultaneously by most people, depending on the tone of the conversation.
What you are doing is no different from calling a potato an apple, just because in french, they are partially the same.
And you claim whoever doesn't go along with this ridiculous point of view, is a snob.
I really don't know what to tell you...

first off, google the word. youre flat wrong.
second, you sound like the kind of person who corrects people who speak a regional dialect. there is no one language we all speak. language is constantly mutating with every day in a million ways, both towards historical use and into new original words, pronounciation and meaning
youre philosophy of language and the arguement youre using came into vogue with Jim Crow btw, though its been used for centuries by the aristocrats of europe. its function is gatekeeping, a way to identify people who dont belong, much like the dozens of dinnerware rituals in the upper class or neckbeards aggresively explaining things to girls in comic shops
I encourage you to look at the history language policing in America and see which sort of people pose the "correct way to speak" arguement. not good company to find yourself in

I say what I say because I studied linguistics. There is no politics or gatekeeping here. I just literally have training in this.

I'd say the same about myself, so put me down as a filthy meta-winger
As entertaining as you two are, this is supposed a thread about X-wing, not the semantic hills you'd prefer to die on

haha, interesting. then you should be incredibly well versed in the history of using language to enforce caste systems in america.

completely agree, and I apologize.
i'll try to reign it in
My wing as far as I have one is thematic-wing in the sense that I strongly prefer to fly ships that I recognize. It's not really a hard and fast rule, and I can get into some other -wings for sure. I like to try new stuff. But I always come back to the OT ships (plus a small handful of others, like Defenders, that I give an OT pass to for nostalgic reasons). There's enough there that I can still build tryhard lists or janky lists or any other kind of lists really, so I don't feel like I'm missing out on opportunities.
Edited by nexttwelveexitsA lot of things were used to enforce the caste system. Language was just one tool from many. Don't you think it's a bit fallacious to equate proper grammar with oppression?
