Before I get started with the focus of this thread, I want to lay some ground rules for responses.

No NERF herding.

No FAQ begging.

No TLJ argument thread hijacking.

No WAAC vs Scrub bile.

I think that covers the worst content of the forums in recent weeks.

Now, I want to know your answer to this question: If competitive X-wing were divided into formats based on archetypes, which format would you compete in?

In other words, which wing is your wing?

A couple more ground rules:

You can only choose one.

Please no arguments over, "my wing is better than your wing." This is kind of community market research.

If I missed your style, please add it.

Examples:

Meta-wing (basically what exist now, no divisions.)

Ace-wing (Minimum 2 unique pilots, no turret primary weapons, no ordnance)

Bomb-wing

Turret-wing

Swarm-wing (true swarms, ace + mini-swarm, Palp + mini-swarm, etc)

Thematic-wing (Events with a TO designated theme. OT, EU, etc.)

Ace-wing: 14

Starwing: 3

Jank-wing: 8

Meta-wing: 3

Epic-wing: 2

Turret-wing: 1

Generic-wing: 1

I'm only counting first choices, but I appreciate the input of secondary responses.

I like Ace-Wing best, but I have played Turret-Wing sometimes.

My wing is Ace-wing

Ace-Wing is probably my primary playstyle, with some Turret-Wing and Themetic-Wing thrown in.

Might I suggest the addition of an “Alpha-Wing” or “Ordnance-Wing”?

Ace-Wing, Thematic-Wing, unsure about the order.

Probably a mix of ace wing and turret wing depending on the day I feel.

Ace-wing or thematic-wing depending on how you define either.

Reckon i'd like to play Swarmwing, if'n I could.

Edit: I 'spose I should qualify that by saying that I fly Scum, and prefer mixed swarms. If that matters.

In related news, if you know someone that wants a ~70 ship collection, I'd be more than happy to loan mine out until the meta stops being Turret/Bomb-wing.

Ugh... that's tough...

But I think it's safe to say that neither Harpoons, TLT or Sabine would be welcome...

But it is hard to come up with sensible limitations that don't defeat the purpose. I think it would have to be a self-moderating thing...

I play Swarm Leader mostly (2-5 generics and an ace), but I guess ace wing or swarm wing would cover most of what i want.

Ordinance wing already made me quit playing once, if it keeps up im out again

This inspired me. Make it democratic. All the lists get posted before the event. There's a round of player approval. If your list isn't endorsed by at least half the competition, then it isn't jank enough. The list with the most endorsements gets a tournament point as an incentive to bring the jankiest jank jankable.

Themewing for me and Ace wing for my wife. Turret for my second choice and ace is my wife's only choice hahaha.
