Can confirm, this is awful. Forgot about Vader on my opponent's raider, took the seemingly great Raddus drop location for my rapid launch bay shenanigans and lost the game immediately.

On the other side of the table I had fair success with an ISD-I with Vader and H9s. Fly up, light saber off their ECMs and then lock down the brace. Not quite as effective as BT Avenger but worked great alongside it.

If they miss the trigger, just get Darth in there and BOOM goes the Hyperspace ship.

Both ships come down before the start ofthe turn. You never have the chance to trigger Vader to stop them.
