Tyrants of Lothal

By RStan, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

Man, I skipped Heart of the Empire because I felt I had enough stuff already, but some of this looks pretty cool. I'm already itching to paint those loth-cats! And Pounce is always fun. Suddenly I feel like buying a couple of extra Nexus from somewhere and playing a full cat list for giggles.

Tress's figure looks super badass, I hope she gets some more interesting skills early on. Hard to say much about CT-1701 yet, but the nickname Wildfire sure sounds exciting. Maybe he gets a flamethrower or something?

I might get Sabine & Zeb just because their minis look absolutely amazing, but I also kind of like that they made their cards pretty straightforward. They look efficient and fun without a lot of pointless bells and whistles getting in the way. I still can't look at Ezra without getting annoyed at that stupid haircut, but I guess mechanics-wise he and Kanan look cool too. Thrawn and the Death Troopers I could take or leave, honestly, but I'm sure there are a lot of people who will absolutely adore them.

Gotta love Hondo though! The really hit the nail on the head thematically with him, just like they did in Armada. Good stuff.

Those poor poor Armada players.

Hey now! We just got a huge errata that most people are really happy with, so at the moment everyone's busy figuring out what to play in the new meta. I'm sure we'll get some news at that Hyperspace thing in a couple weeks.

I'm also totally jazzed for this, especially for Thrawn, Deathtroopers, and Hondo! My paints can't wait either.

I would love to see Cad Bane in a future wave.

I’m glad you exist and that this wave caters to your tastes. I think we have literally exactly opposite opinions on everything in this wave hahaha. But again, I’m happy someone else is happy and that the stuff I don’t like so far about this wave might be fun for you!

Unlikely as it is, I hope so too.

I do wonder still- since they're apparently up for preorder already, maybe this announcement is hitting when the product is further along in the pipeline than usual? I could see that as being the case, especially since we're about three weeks since Legion was announced and there was often speculation that we'd probably have at least that amount of time before hearing anything so as to not "steal Legion's thunder".

Not gonna get my hopes up, but I'm curious to see the updated "upcoming" page. I wouldn't be totally surprised if this product isn't added to the boat before long.

I like Rebels but not an uber fan of the cartoon. Would have preferred R1/Solo tie in. That stated, I am hardly going to say anything bad about it after the long bout of Legionares we've just suffered. Plus I'll almost certainly buy it because of the Death Troopers!

Yeah the thing is I’m really excited to see ffg still putting more stuff out for this game and I have absolutely zero interest in legion. So I’m happy to have an announcement. But I really hope we do get rogue one and solo tie in stuff too, and soon. Preferably with a new squad for the rebel faction? Maybe even something (gulp) mid-low cost?

Quintus Varus, give me 4-LOM and Zuckuss!

Just looking at the side mission cards for the figure packs. From what I can tell if I squint really hard :P ...

The spectre side missions are too hard for me to read. The others are a little easier

Thrawn- The Admiral's (something). Ship?

Hondo- The Pirate's Ploy/Prey?

Not sure if this is reliable enough for your list @brettpkelly

Regardless, the art for the missions looks great- particularly what appears to be a camo scout trooper on Zeb and Sabine's mission?

I'm super excited to finally get something for IA! These are the best fridays!

I really like the new minis and it sounds like the mechanics are fun and thematic. I like Thrawns ability to stun someone at the beginning of each round, I mean wow, that's not even an IP class card. Ezra's movement and Kanan's foresight (or whatever it's called) is really cool too.

The death troopers are clutch. Really interesting flexibility. It will be interesting to see how they work out. I can see using two DTs each paired with a leader or using pair of DTs (maybe one reg and one elite). If you had an elite officer, the DT could go first- attack etc. then activate an elite officer that could order the DT to attack again. Hmmm.

Anyways, great job FFG and thanks for giving us more IA! When I saw the Report article this morning I thought we'd have to wait till May for some IA news.

This is seriously almost enough to pull me back into IA, but sadly I don't have time to paint and I refuse to play unpainted.

Nice! This actually tempts me to get into the game. The Ghost and Phantom is what finally convinced me to pick up X-wing and it may be enough here. Depends on if the App starts getting some support.

Awesome

So, the Ghost crew come out to 37 points total.

Guess the last 3 points can be achieved via attachments for Skirmish.

Hey Lot of them shown only their campaign version, so we are haps the prices will be different in skirmish? Jawa was different price right?

Also, I don't care if they call him CT-1701. He will be CT-7567 to me.

My group gave up on IA when 40K 8th edition came out so I have skipped HotE wave but I'm getting all of this new Lothal wave so when we ever do get back to playing, I can and will wound/kill a hero with a Loth-cat.

Can someone speak to "Patience". Does that mean for each rebel unit exhausted, he can distribute a mystery token?

For each activation token exhausted (meaning hero activations performed this round), distribute a different power token to a figure in the activating group. (Allies excluded.)

I.e. at least one power token (unless using the Shoot First agenda card), at most four power tokens.

Oh, ok, that makes sense for the campaign. I forgot there will be a skirmish version. Yeah, i wasn't thinking when it said "token" to be the hero activation tokens. Thanks.

Looks great, love thrawn and the dt. Lothcats is a neat surprise, they get pounce!

I think this box puts rebels to bed, got a lot of content out of that show. R1 seems like the next logical choice perhaps spread out over a blister and a box.

Then after that we're looking like Endor is the only viable content left centred around the OT timeline.

At any rate if they take a similar time frame we probabaly still have a few more years of content. Plus then the app recycling it all. I'm definitely ok with slowing down the physical side if the releases are this good.

I think the next release will be an app campaign then a blister to close out the year, possibly with another app release of sorts and then rinse repeat for 2019.

It really just depends if they want to stick to campaign only content in the app or throw in some one offs and/or bonus modes like Descent got. That opens the door for less resource consuming designs which means more releases.

on a side note, this game is so saturated with side missions at this point it's hard not to justify a 11 mission campaign.. but at the same time I rather enjoy the 5-8 mission campaigns as they aren't quite as large of a time investment.

id love to see a way for them to recycle some of the side missions we have, especially those on the imp side in the agenda decks that, at least for me, never get chosen/played.

Either way great release, great content, future is bright for IA.

I love it!

While I think FFG will likely never understand that people want to play a campaign with the actual show heroes and that licensed RPG's that forbid this or do not support it are backwards anti-inclusive games.

At least they are allowing some allies in each mission.

And I'm looking forward to seeing what sort of app updates are coming for this content.

I do not want to play established heroes. Never once. I like IA for giving us generic heroes than can live inside the universe. Why would you want to play characters whose stories are already established? That's lore breaking. I guess that's me coming from a long history of table top gaming.

I think somewhere down the line, i've already got an idea to swap out existing hero cards in place of the spectre crew (Hera - Gideon, Sabine -maybe vinto etc) and maybe come up with some custom missions.

Love that im gonna get minis of all of spectre team (and deathtroopers and a proper thrawn mini of course!)

I wish they'd skip the rebels stuff to be honest.

i'm sure we will get 4 death trooper figures, I'm just wondering if we will get 2 elite cards... it would be really skimpy if they didn't.

Funny. I'd be surprised if we got more than 2. That's the usual include. 2 squads of each type the only exception being the Clawdite which should have been three (one for each Shape). However, being single figure groups we might get lucky! I sure hope we do, as they seem like one of the most interesting pieces of the new stuff.

Also wonder at Sabine. The shown card is Campaign only. But nothing on her wouldn't work in Skirmish. So, maybe they'll adjust the abilities/point cost somewhat? She probably won't be Scum, as then you couldn't play the whole crew. Here's to hoping she'll have something that ties mechanically into the Scum faction. That along with Hondo would be a nice attempt at getting rid of RCP in Scum.

Double post.

That’s the typical argument but I think it’s the wrong idea.

Kids role playing on the playground do not invent their own ninja turtles. They pick one they like and have all sorts of knowledge in how to play as them.

People do not buy starwars action figures and kit bash them into their own Star Wars OC. They buy characters they know and have stories they can build on.

From the dawn of story telling we have shared characters, creating new stories for them.

There is no lore to break.
