Unfortunately, there is a bunch of trolls occupying these forums which are clouding any kind of potentially productive discussion..

Sadly, I unironically agree :(

By 'this' you mean the objective statistical data, or did I misunderstand you?

there is a "casual" meta and a "competitive" meta.

The casual meta is wide open, or feels like it anyways. The competitive meta, well it's sadly pretty much what @Tlfj200 is saying... there is no getting around that.

Casual lists, for the most part, will melt against the top tier meta lists flown by top tier players. This can become a pretty big NPE for casual players when the competitive players are gearing up for a top tier event. Even our small city was incredibly competitive while gearing up for regionals and we all tech'd towards the meta, and each other. We geared up so hard with our own meta lists with tweaks to win in the mirror that the top 16 of Calgary regionals was mostly people from our city. In fact, I don't think any Calgarians made 8 cut. But it was all NymMiranda, Dash Poe, Wookies...etc. (this was before Fenn/Ghost really took off)

Since the local community has no other large events to look forward too (2 of my peers are going to worlds. GLHF) we have seen a very diverse local meta, like we usually do. Yes, there is a Miranda Nym, Dash/Poe is alive and well, the strezzra convoy is making an appearance as well... but you will also find T65's, Hawks, Tie Fighters, A-wings, U-Wings, K-Fighters.... the whole 9 yards. And the real solid players flying those crazy ships... they are able to hold their ground, if not win, against some of those meta lists. But...they need to fly perfect and take advantage of every mistake and misplay.

JFC.... yup. I cried.

Not counting tournament entries, I am probably at $1800 which includes me buying some alt-art stuff on the trade group. At this point, I have a nearly complete collection and I am playing a game I very much enjoy and made some friends along the way. I've spent more money on worse.

There is also different levels of meta based on the event: you have to imagine that Store Champs will see some fun things win, even in areas that have a bunch of top tier players.

Saw looping Chewie mentioned a couple times can someone give me more of a reference my searches of this community and the web came up with nothing.

I think it involves Chewie with the new Falcon title, kanan and Kyle, with Captain Rex and Lowhhrick as wingmen. Stupidly tanky, plus as you mow down Rex you get walloped with Chewie’s counterattack. Or use OG Chewie for more tankiness.

I don’t know what makes it particularly good though.

It's ummm actually this -

And the recent event that people referring to is when the finals of a tournament came down to a pair of 3P0 Mirandas that couldn't damage each other. Both players wanted to just quit and go to final salvo but the judge wouldn't let them. So rather than continue the pointless slap fight they 3 SLAMed to the board edges and then played Loopin Chewie for the rest of the stream until time was up then final salvo'd with 2 dice each on the dice app.

Visual aid s help so much! Thanks,

oh god, I didn't take into account exchange (I live in Canada), markup at the FLGS I play at (which is more than the store down the street...but they don't host games), the templates, pateron dollars, acrylic tokens, alt arts (I don't even want to know how much PLR and All-Wings have cost me), storage solutions, tournament entries, hotel/transport all for this game.

However, the argument to the wife is: Well it's cheaper than when I was buying guitars all the time.

I am chagrined, and yet super happy that I instigated the use of a Nathan Fillion gif.

In my defense, I have heard people refer to the Chewie and lowhrick list as “loopin chewie” or “sloopin Chewie”.

Yeah once I got my Les Paul Standard, I stopped buying guitars.

yea... but how many did you buy before then? either way, the optimum number of guitars is the current amount of guitars you own +1.

To be fair, my Les Paul Tribute was the last guitar I bought. But I still need me a '62 Telecaster Custom reissue in ocean turquoise. Which they don't even do now... I think the closest (in terms of looks) is the new American Elite.

4 total. A Mexican Strat, a mandolin, and two acoustic guitars.

one of us is doing it wrong....

Gibson Les Paul Trad, Gibson Es-335, Gibson RD Custom (1978), Tokai Telecaster (lawsuit era), PRS Custom 24, Gretsch Projet Firebird, Taylor 310CE Koa SE, Takamine 1984 LE....

It is if you attend a lot of high end tournaments.

It just means that more people go to high end tournaments than before. It might not be the best/only metric to measure if the game is doing well or not.

In my poll about enthusiasm for the game (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfc6y_dL6d4iogG64-6UJ3F_81DhvY3LMa5dWsIZvyesbORSg/viewform?usp=sf_link), people seem to be digging non-tournament formats at a pretty solid rate. But, it's also true so far that 2 out of 3 people are enjoying tournaments. The poll isn't perfect by a long shot, but still... interesting data

bump.... for reasons.

Seems clear to me that despite the things folks complain about, most of us still play in tournaments and still have fun with it.

I like all the formats really - probably the one I do the least is PvP missions. It’s just been more fun (and a lot easier actually) to either co-op with HotAC which has a closer to cinema feel than PvP missions or just play a fun 100/6 or 300/12. The trench run was pretty fun when it was run a couple of times, but started to run long especially when we thought more ships must be better!

I would say most of my xwing at FLGS is 100/6 and occasional (3-4 times a year) epic. My games with friends and family are about a 50/50 split between 100/6 and HotAC.

Yet we still have Bantha Fodder like THIS<_<

Guess we are just going to have to nerf ban all K-wings, Shadowcasters, Jumpmasers (because 5 nerfs wasn't enough), Sethapede, Y-wings, TIE/SF, Aztecs, VCXs, Scurrgs, bombs, and whatever because there should be no way a noob with such trash should be able to beat a nerfherder playing the "real" x-wing.

:angry:Seriously I wan't FFG to either reverse all the erratas or just put in a turret so broken it makes the jumpmasters look balanced just so that all of these "pros" get so angry they quit the game. I heard that the 40k community has improved when Games Workshop lost their standings and all their scum has migrated somewhere else. Maybe Asmodee should do something similar.-_-

Remember that time dudes like Hobo called the TIE/SF DOA? And then it tore rear.

That was fun.

I remember people telling me that conditions would ruin and end the game.

People just need to learn to be happy. This forum needs to learn a little positively

TBF it pretty much was DOA. Then after arrival LWF arrived, a slew of nerfs shook things up, and the TIE/sf became a thing.
