Nice movie quote, FFG...

I fully expect the Armada portion of this report to just be "Don't worry guys, something big is coming!" :P

Live Stream your reaction to the live presentation. :-)

Don't worry there'll be a thread where you can see everyone's reaction.

Armada however, is LONG overdue for the "Something big" teased at Gencon last year, (no it was confirmed to NOT be wave 7).

IA has also been soft-spoiled as getting new content with Death Troopers, Thrawn, Clones, and presumably, the rest of the Rebels crew... and especially since all of that is on the WORLDS prizes, it stands to reason that Worlds will be the place they reveal a Rebels wave.

I thought the competitive rules change was the "Something big" because it totally limited the number of super small ships that can be fielded. So on average, fleet ship size will increase. That's big, right?

/confirmed. In order to still release new ships (or troops in IAs case), FFG is adopting the wizkids method of making the new super powerful stuff prize support only. Say goodbye to the complaints about OP not knowing what the player base wants! Welcome to the new age where you must now attend every event at all times in order to even pretend to play the game. PS. Entry fees are now $200 to cover the additional OP cost.

There should have been an article 2 weeks ago saying, behold, we will tell you when to expect an article about an even revealing our new products.

If they don't announce anything, the salt will power me for about eight months.

So... you want them to have announced that they'd be announcing an announcement?

"World Championship attendees have the first chance to reserve their spot at the Star Wars Hyperspace Report! If you’re coming to the 2018 May World Championships, you’ll soon be receiving an email with information on how to reserve your spot at the Star Wars Hyperspace Report. Admission to the presentation is free, but space at the Star Wars Hyperspace Report is limited to the first 200 people to claim a ticket! If you’re planning on attending the 2018 May World Championships, and you’ll be in town on May 1st, keep an eye out for our email to reserve your spot. Pre-registration for World Championship attendees will open on Saturday, April 14th, at 12:00 P.M. Central Time.

Then, if there’s still space remaining at the Star Wars Hyperspace Report, we’ll open up registration to anyone interested! Starting on Tuesday, April 17th, at 12:00 PM Central Time, we will open registration to anyone interested in attending the presentation. Registration will only remain open until the 200 spots at the Star Wars Hyperspace Report have been claimed."

So....they are basing their announcement group on a lottery, based on an event lottery I was unable to get into.....This seems....Stupid?!?

Let’s go, finally some news.

*insert SSD chanting*

Reckon the next wave for Armada that we'll see will be Combat Flotillas..

Makes sense IMO following the cap of Flotillas at 2, and with squadrons continually nerfed, rhymer, rieekan, now yav and commanders, it does seem that FFG want a less squadron intense game. Adding in Combat Flotillas seems logical then to help them achieve a game with many ships, and smaller squadron supports..

Possible ships could be: Marauder-class corvette / DP20 frigate for Rebels or

Tartan-class patrol cruiser / Broadside-class cruiser kdb-1 for Imps

FFG is good at this hosting thing.

"Dear World Attendees, since you've all probably booked your flights, travel plans, vacation time, and accomodations for Worlds a couple months ago, here is an event you can attend that is two weeks away and is scheduled for mid-day a full day before any of you planned on arriving!!! See you there!!!"

Clearly this is intended for two different groups.

The first group is those who (quite correctly!) planned on making the World Championships the nexus for a vacation to the upper Midwest in early May. They would, naturally, have booked the whole week leading up to the Championships. This is modeled on the very successful "Super Bowl Experience" from this past February.

The second group is for the very wonderful local community which is the justifiably-revered center of the FFG universe.

If you're not in one of those two groups, you can eat cake...er...I mean, you can watch the live stream.

:)

well, stop the IA discussions :)

I just find it ridiculous that they are giving priority of attendance to the SAME random set of folks that are attending a play event, when there may be other folks who actually REPORT on the FFG products that might want to stream something like this back to folks who will BUY their products. Obviously proximity is critical, but this just seems....what is the term I'm looking for....not well thought out....

I'm done complaining for today. It's friday after all....

<steps down, and away from soap box....>

Now that all the fields of battle have been released; Armada (Fleet), X-Wing (fighters), Legion (ground), they shall be linked together into a mega campaign where tournaments determine control of areas and we can play with everyone else in a huge faction war!

So basically what Battletech does every few years. Put out the event rules, have TOs report results back. Post big things about results. Everything is really on the honor system

You poor poor optimists.

Clearly they are just going to announce that Armada is dead .

Long live Armada.

Isn't FFG streaming it already?

Well yes, but don't you know 3rd party streams with commentary is better than the official stream?

I'd like them to announce a co-op version of Star Wars LCG but I won't hold my breath...
