Dead man's switch and Jostero

By K13R4N, in X-Wing Rules Questions

If Jostero has dead man's switch then dies and deals a damage to the opponent the wasn't through a attack can he shoot before he dies? Now most of the time I would have assumed no however Dengar gets to shoot back before he dies and hes officially destroyed and when someone at the same PS shoots and destroys you, you can shoot back.

This may be a stupid question and feel free just to say he dies.

PS. The reason I ask this question is because on meta wing I say a jostero with DMS.

Dead Man's Switch goes off in the Deal Damage step - before ships are removed.

Ships can still attack at this point, even if destroyed, due to 'after defending' (like Dengar) or the simultaneous attack rule. So there is no reason Jostero could not get a shot in if his Dead Man's Switch hits an enemy and he has not yet used his ability this turn.

It's the same trigger point (damage assigned in the deal damage step) as Quickdraw - imagine if Quickdraw was hit by some unholy Jan Ors/Opportunist Cruise Missile and killed outright in a single shot - she would still get her free shot back when the first shield token was removed.
