By Darth evil, in Painting

Hey guys, i plan on starting my Imperial army soon and i can't quite decide if i want to be a pure traditionalist, see i hate painting white, i gave up on the IA stormtroopers after completing the Jet troopers, now i've been looking at peoples approaches by painting them black or grey. At first i thought about making them a camo but then i figured i was better off with white, and then it hit me what about a paint scheme like Capt.Phasma or Jango Fett, all shiny metallic, an wash wouldn't stain as much and they would look like they came out of the Stwar Wars universe.

What do you all think ?

Somewhere in this sub-forum someone has posted pic's of a metallic scheme... If you track that down you'll get both an idea of how it looks and people's reactions thereupon.

@Darth evil That sounds like a great idea. You will certainly leave an impression. I say do the chrome troopers.

@Darth evil What about this......

When I saw Phasma, I could not help but remember this vid......

I like to see alternate paint schemes, I was thinking about doing chrome as well but went with a metallic black instead. I say do it.

They are going to be reminiscent of the Cylons from the original Battlestar Galactica if you do them in chrome. Nothing wrong with that, although you might not want to look at more than one troop done up that way. Maybe try some other metallics if you want to go that route, like a dark gunmetal or a bronze or something.

I did mine with a forest green and still the black highlights around the eyes and the weapons because I was trying to make an endor special forces army. They turned out pretty good.

A tan would also look really cool instead of the white armor.

You dont have to make them white, or even partially white. Do be warned some people are fanatical fans and will gripe if its not "authentic colors" but theyre the minority, most people like seeing unique schemes.

You could go full Space Marine with them and just paint them a seemingly random color for the main body, off color for a shoulderpad, and call them something fancy you just made up. People do this all the time in 40k.
Heck, i had purple/green tau in 40k. Nobody ever does that, the amount of comments i got for it being unique was amusing.

i will do a test figure with an Imperial assault stormie

@Dirk Le Daring That was crazy! I've never seen that paint before. Makes me want to get some and start chroming everything. A chrome tree? Yes. Chrome shoes? Yes. A Chrome comb? Yes! I have to see this paint in person.

I think you should do you. Be creative, be a purist, be YOU!

....... and if you can't BE YOU, there are some Russians out there that can hook you up to be someone else. ;)

The Clone armies really opened up the color pallet on these guys. Lots of examples from them.
