Happy Friday

By Cubanboy, in Star Wars: Armada

Hello and happy Friday to each of you amazing forum friends!

This week I want to ask the following,

When would you like to see a refresh of Ships and rules?

Example 5 years

Be excellent friends.

Rules could use at least an update at 3 years to account for the FAQs and new keywords.

Happy Friday indeed!

Armada 2nd edition?... At least 7 more waves before that is needed. So 4-7 years at the current release pass.

On an incredibly happy and hopefull note, My wife had a biopsy surgery yesterday, with a good early prognosis. I'm crossing my fingers for good news from the lab results.

I think 5 years is a good amount of time to start considering a 2nd edition of a game. So from that time to testing and publication...6-7 years?

Happy Friday, everyone!

From my point of view Armada seems to be fresh and interesting!

Today is my birthday, so it's a very happy Friday! I wish many Happy Fridays to everyone!

Happy fridays peoples :)

In my mind a 2nd edition needs to come round when severel of the following happen:

  • The list of added rules equals or exceeds the list in original rules
  • several FAQ /Erratas exist to single cards or units
  • FAQs by the game writters come out answering question on the basics that alter the common perception of how the rules work
  • when upgrades are released and immediately need either assigned the dustbin or need a complete re-write to work

Hi! Happy Friday! Today or next Tuesday is when I predict we will hear or get a teaser for WEight . WEight will include either TLJ ships/commanders or Solo ships/commanders and the long lost U-Wing. Maybe a special big surprise for Imperial players.

Keeping with my theme of waves in this post, I would say after Wave 10, Armada 2E will happen.

  1. Updated/refreshed rules/errata etc
  2. Two new Core Boxes (One for Imperial one for Rebel)
  3. Retrofits pack for existing ships that haven't gotten any love from FFG

If I were to do Armada 2E:

  1. Faction core boxes would include the following ships and squads: One medium base, one small base from previous waves, and one of the new flotillas from WEight; 3 generic X-Wings/TIE Fighters and 3 generic Y-Wings/TIE Interceptors, two cardboard retrofits for the medium and small base ships included with the new core box.
  2. New rulebook, etc - if I were evil and corporate I would have the Imperial set come with only the errata for their faction and vice versa, almost a ...codex...if you will. (One for rebs in their box too of course)
  3. My inner voice is now telling me to shut up and stop giving FFG any ideas on how to lighten our wallets even more.

It would certainly be a great addition to have an updated card pack, similar to how WarmaHordes has handled edition changes. I'd say we're not *quite* there yet, but by the time of the next FAQ/Errata we'll probably be ready.

A second edition would be an opportunity to follow Legion's precedent and make the RRG a digital-only, living document.

I think that maybe when they want to add other eras. CW, Kotor, the new trillogy, ect. Maybe, if we need things to change maybe re adjust command values? Dunno since it's a card based game oppose to a BRB approach, it doesn't need 'new edition' very often. It will probably need one at one point, along with an overhaul with early cards, n ships. The latter is just speculation, as it is dependent on the developer keeping an eye on balance, all the while not pulling an xwing (where there's a straight up better ship over alot of the early ships). To be fair to the BRB approach it allows for wild swings in power balance from one edition to another. Not so much with cards, but their fault is that certain cards can be rather quickly rendered moot by a new kit, as well as not having easy access to the updated rules in card form.
