Dear god, please not some made-up dude from FFG when there are so many interesting characters from the actual source material.

Well I am not sure if FFG's fan fic is any better or worse than Disney's or the disbanded EU's fan fic but FFG is in love with their own stuff. I am not saying he is a good choice, just a likely one.

I am thinking scout troopers, not sure on commander.

Jerjerrod could be Commander of scout troopers as he was in command of Death Star II. Or they could just release Boba Fett like they usually do alongside Han in most of their other games

Gar Saxon and Imperial Super Commandoes.

tarken and scouts.

If they do release Boba Fett as a commander I guess I'm just going to have to repurpose a WotC Phase III and pretend he's General Mohc...

I'm loving all these band names;

Krennic and the Deathtroopers

Gar Saxon and the Imperial Supercommandos

I wonder if they'll have some sort of infiltration ability?...

Or if they'll just have 'Scout' like the Rebel Commandos - but with value 3.

Perhaps they be allowed to have more than one sniper??

Trying to think how they'll be differentiated from the Commandos...?

E-Web could be a heavy, sure. Range 2-4, exhausts, and cumbersome. They could have two specialized extra trooper upgrades; you could choose between a "Weapons Tech" who has a free action to unexhaust one upgrade attached to a unit within range 1, or a "Spotter" who enables Standby to trigger at range 3 instead of range 2.

So the combination would permit you the choice between a more mobile E-Web (take the spotter so you can move and still fire via a more effective standby action, but have to stop to ready - reloading it after each volley - the E-Web) or one you run into position, set up, and then treat as a stationary emplacement (free readying the gun with a dedicated reloader) so you can aim, fire, and ready.

Snipers make sense for the other heavy, and could play well with the Spotter at least in a full squad.

I'd drop exhausts. The E-Web is supposed to be a machine gun type thing.

Instead, when you fire the thing it gains that "Immobile" keyword mentioned on the Scout keyword.

So rather than recovering to fire again, you recover to actually move the E-Web elsewhere.

In regards to the "Spotter", the regular Scout Troopers could get the "Spotter 1" keyword. Basically what Veers has, but slightly weaker.

I’d make that second one Gar Saxon and his Imperial Supercommandos

People have fairly locked in as the scout troopers as being the spec ops buts its not set in stone that they definitely are. We know they are coming but not when.

In terms of commanders I think there are several candidates. I think it will an iconic character from the films rather than a spin off.

Palpatine - with royal guard.

Krennic - Death Troopers.

Thrawn- this will be the one with scout troopers I believe.

I’m a little surprised we still haven’t seen a preview.

FFG are having a big star wars day on May 1st. Hopefully something then.

Palpatine is a terrible commander choice; may as well have Yoda as a commander at that point (now with Clone Wars era stuff that'd be fine, but otherwise not so much).

Keep the politicians and the fleet commanders out of the groundpounders way...

Palpatine has been shown to occasionally participate in ground battles, albeit due to his shuttle being shot down.

In regards to fleet commanders, we need someone like Jerjerrod to be a commander, partly because the empire just doesn't have that many ground commanders.

Also, we really need an Imperial Officer wearing a cap, so a "Fleet Commander" would fill that role.

EDIT:

The only named and canon "Groundpounders" within the Empire are General Veers and Colonel Starck, and even then the only appearance of Colonel Starck we have their Legends one. We don't even know what gender they are in canon sources, just that they died on Hoth when Luke threw a grenade into their AT-AT.

Eweb, 36 white dice, new rule they all have to be rolled at the same time.

While not the best and brightest of Empire, we do have Cumberlayne Aresko and Myles Grint from Rebels.

The Scout unit depicted on the 'Operation' header appears armed with a DLT and several long rifles, some with scopes. Could be a couple of sniper units adjacent to each other I suppose.

Where is this?

Main Legion page/ organised play menu/ operations tab at bottom of the page. Both Operation Gathering Forces and Silent Hail have them at the top of first page.

Thanks

The Empire is pretty lacking in canon officers other than ship/fleet commanders. That said, we do now have General Jylia Shale from Aftermath, supposedly a top tactician, as well as General Tagge who has some major canon development in the comics.

I'd like a EWeb next please. I think I'm fine with just storm troopers.

Those are both decent choices, but it's hard to see how either make more sense then Moff Jerjerrod, the actual commander over Endor. FFG has existing art assets for him because he's been in at least three of their other games (LCG, Armada, X-Wing). If they aren't going to go for some flashy, popular choice like Palpatine or Boba Fett, Jerjerrod just seems to make the most sense.

Jerjerrod is fine by me, I quite like him. That said moffs were political appointees and rarely had much military experience, Tarkin notwithstanding. Legion seems too small a scale for a moff for my tastes. That's just flavour though and I fully expect to see him eventually, if not with the special forces.

I think I'd rather see a unique sort of special forces commander for the Empire. Maybe an Inquisitor. Maybe even the Grand Inquisitor. I know it doesn't fit the Endor theme at all. Not sure how tightly FFG is going to stick to said themes.
