Never Been Done in an X-wing Podcast Before

By GreenLantern1138, in X-Wing

Sorry for the clickbait title, but I've got something exciting to share. I'm Lachie, one of the hosts of H e l l of a Pilot (a show with a name that's hard to discuss on this forum because the word **** auto-censors) and we've just started something new. In our latest episode we feature the first part of an original Star Wars audio drama loosely inspired by X-wing, written by our mate Jack Murray and and edited by our own Owen Cross. We'll be recording episodes of that alongside our usual content and eventually it'll get released on its own. We don't post about ourselves here very often but we're a lighthearted show from Australia that tries to entertain by not having a meta focus, in fact our newest episode is partly about Legion. It would mean a lot to us if you'd give the whole show a listen but if you skip ahead to 78 minutes in Episode 30 just to hear the narrative, nobody would blame you. Thanks for your time, friends.

My favorite podcast from the southern hemisphere!

Have you posted over on the Legion pages?

I thought for sure it would be "torture Jar Jar Binks on the air"

I hate* to break it to you BUT another podcast has done an audiodrama before. We beat you to it on the Shuttle Tydirium a while back with the 'Grayskull' audiodrama series (4 episodes). We made it to promote our narrative event of the same name. I'm checking your episode out now, but in the meantime I'll leave you with a link to our try at an audiodrama:

GRAYSKULL AUDIODRAMA SERIES

Let me know if you want to compare notes sometime! I've accumulated a lot of useful resources that you might find handy, such as sound effects, suitable creative commons (free) music, and know-how re-creating radio transmission effects and Rodian and Sullustan language dialogue.

Thanks mate, always great to hear from you. We haven't posted anything there yet.

That would be amazing, thanks! Looks like I was a bit carried away with excitement when I named the thread; should have known there was another one out there! I'll check yours out as soon as I can.

Oooooo, a Shuttle Tydirium/H. of a Pilot podcast/audio drama crossover? Yes please.

That would be fun.

I got all the way up to the scene on the Raider. Please tell me that isn't the end.

Haha, as it turns out that is the end of the Grayskull audiodramas, but not the end of the narrative... The whole idea behind this project was to promote our narrative event Assault on Grayskull Base, which can be found in our podcast's public google drive aka 'Holodrive'. The intent is that the audiodrama sets up the background to the narrative, and then players decide the fate of Col. Bowlin, Killjoy squadron, and Grayskull base during the narrative event itself! There's no canonical ending to the story

That's fair enough and a really great idea for a game, I just got so sucked in I was really hoping for an ending.
