I'd love to see a bullseye arc that isn't centered, but instead lined up with the left side of the carboard.
That would be cool...

They think they can please the fans by digging up every unused scrap of work by Ralph McQuarrie, Joe Johnston, et al. The problem is, those designs were passed over for a reason.
Whats funny is I said this years ago, and I was voted down. Amazing how the times have changed, and its not funny, its quite sad because Starwars used to mean something to me, before the dark times, Before Disney...and EA joined forces.
Oh well, Moving on to a different series I suppose, Oh, look! Its Firefly! Time to trade in my Storm Trooper armor for a brown leather duster. Ahh So much more comfortable. Firefly will never betray my trust!

Mostly because it's dead and no longer doing much.

I can live with that :3 I rather a IP be dead and finished then revived and ruined, Hench Disney resurrection.

That would be pretty awesome.
Hard to use, but awesome.

Imagine a new base size that was basically two bases wide but only one base deep. You used the maneuver templates on the side without the cannon and the one with had the bullseye arc. It still gets a small base ship barrel roll rule. How funky would that be?

I expect to see a 3/3/3/0 Heavy tie fighter with the same cost of a Tie/Fo with focus/evade/barrel roll actions and slow mouvements.
I didn't know that but they are not so visible this one without cannon would be like a bomber without ordnance. Hope the put a cannon.

Sorry, the dark times were the last half of the 80s and into the 90s before the Thrawn Trilogy and certain space sims gave SW a new lease on life.
I see windows on a second spot, so maybe a crew slot. Pretty please?

One might call that the first dark age though. TFA and TLJ are an entirely different sort of dark age though.

I prefer to label this time; the Era of Saltiness

Funny how the era of ‘a movie release every year plus multimedia blitz and tv series’ can be deemed a dark age. Even during the height of the prequels we didn’t have this much sustained presence in the culture.

Then why did they want it? If Star Wars wasn't a presence in the culture even after all the vitriol inspired by Episodes I-III why would they pay $4 billion dollars for the intellectual property? And if the sustained presence is just going to be killing off all the characters that made us want the presence...

Oh look, HERE IS HAN SOLO AND CHEWBACCA! CHEER FOR THEM! "Chewbacca is left to rot as a background character, Han is killed off, and Leia and Mary Sue hug. OH LOOK HERE IS LUKE SKYWALKER! OMG OMG THE END
This was pretty much TFA reduced to two lines of text with the big moments that fans would care about.
The OT cast is back! The OT cast is back! And then they turn Luke Skywalker into a Macguffin.
But there is new movie every year. ![]()

and I’m outta here

It's been Chewies's plan all along, he's fed up with being a secondary character and is systematically getting the rest of the old cast killed off.
First Han, then Luke and now Leia will fall to the furry ball of deep-set hatred which is Chewabacca.
When the entire original cast is gone, only he will remain.

Wookies do live to be upwards of 400 years old. If he's surrounded by humans that's not too hard of a goal. ![]()

He basically keeps Han as his dog.

Yes! Exactly! So good! We get to see that the epilogue of one set of characters is the prologue of another set. And thus the cycle of storytelling continues.
I'm trying to image a set of stories that would take place ~25 years after Jedi, with some sort of New Jedi Order running around the galaxy. I think the attempt to keep the same old characters in the foreground would create stories that would be universally panned as some of the worst storytelling Star Wars has ever had.

.... only he will remain to be ignored and pushed into the background for an even blander and less interesting group of characters.

Not sure if you're trying to bash the NJO or the Prequels (the -25 years thing is kinda confusing) but I'll take both over Disney's universe. I don't get the NJO hate. It's a helluva lot better story with better villains and characters than the ST has yet regurgitated, and it managed to introduce new characters without killing off the originals for no apparent reason.

I don't understand how you can say this. They killed A LOT of characters, both OT cannon and EU characters. Not even just characters but places. One could also argue that they assassinated the character of several characters as well. There's some good stuff in NJO but come on man. They killed chewie to give Han a story and they killed Anakin because "it was confusing." At least Luke died to save his friends and inspire the galaxy.

There are some new books coming out, I believe...
The new stuff will basically be the same as the old stuff. Some awful, with a few scattered gems (often in the same game or film!). But it has enough media inertia that slapping star wars on stuff will detectably increase the revenue.
The TIE heavy is a cool idea...wonder how many people will fly alongside QuickDraw...
Boy, this thread took a hard turn off the rails....
