So... About the Heavy Tie....

4 Hull? Or 5? I doubt it will have shields. And not more hull than a bomber.

Going by older ships, Imperial ships don't have shields FO ships do, with notable exceptions like the Defender and the Phantom. But these two ships weren't Line fighters, they were for Elite Pilots, even though in X Wing they come with PS 2 pilots, which doesn't make sense to me. I think that they could go the Scyk Interceptor route with this ship ie it's title allows yo to equip a Missile, Torp or Cannon, having the pod as a way to make them very flexible. I think it will have full 1 nad 2 moves, but no 5 and probably no 4 moves. maybe it's 3 hards are red? I think it will have a focus, TL and barrel roll, but being too big/slow for an evade.

so I am thinking
2/3/5/0

Focus, Target Lock, Barrel Roll
EPT for higher pilots and possibly a system upgrade.
Title giving it a cannon slot or a missile/torp or 2 torp slots.

I am thinking 2 Primary so chimps arent crazy, plus the main firepower is from the equipped cannon/ordinance, not the fighter itself.

well, depends on who flies it.

If it's something Han steals it will be:
3,3,5,0

With crew, system and cannon slots, probably Interceptor dial... at leas.

if it's imperial

2,2,4,0

cannon slot

red turns.

I'm hoping for

3 2 4 1

Slightly better dial than the bomber.

Bullseye arc and cannon slot.

Actions: barrel roll, focus, tl, evade.

How about just for once, we don't tax imperial players with light weight frame?

That card was supposed to help lower agility ties, but ever since it came out, ffg forgot how to print 3-s in green.

Now it just means the ship has slightly worse agility, costs more and has no mod slot.

The tie aggressor is basically an advanced with a turret. It should have 3 ag. But no, apparently it is as hard to hit as the Shadowcaster.

With more information I bet :

3/3/5/0

Actions : Focus, Evade, Barrel Roll

Title (tie/rb) and Ept

Cost : Same or close to the tie/fo

Dial: Something close to the tie agressor.

Well, LWF seems to be only a problem on the Striker, Aggressor, and SF when it comes to new TIEs. And the Striker and Aggressor are what it was made for. So really, the only one that FFG forgot to put 3-s in green on was the SF, which kinda makes sense.

I think LWF actually does a really good job of encouraging pilots to stay and range 1 or 2, given it essentially gives the same number of green dice at all 3 ranges (against 3 dice ships). I think it is meant not to be a strictly defensive upgrade, but rather one that encourages precise maneuvering. In the same way Sensor Jammer isn't a strictly defensive upgrade but rather a strangely offensive/defensive nuanced card. Heck, LWF allows you to roll 4 defense dice at long range against 4 attack dice ships. Its quite nuanced and not a straightforward 2.5 green dice.

That being said, I am still for this new TIE having 3 Green. My ideal stat line would be 2/3/4/0 with a cannon slot or a bullseye arc, or maybe even a cool title that makes use of the cannon and the bullseye arc simultaneously.

anybody interested in making pilot/upgrade cards and ship tiles/dials?

probably not worth the effort, it's going to be in a movie, FFG will be working on it.

One thing that would be new would be to give this ship a "snipe" ability, similar to Armada, and let it make attacks out to range 4. It won't happen, because they'd need to pack a Range ruler with each one, but would give the fighter the sense of being a heavier support fighter, or a form of artillery.

im actually hoping they give it an offset "bullseye" arc instead of a cannon slot.
There cannon is clearly on that second minipod thing. Have a "bullseye" arc lined up with it, if the enemy is in it when attacking roll 2 more dice.

Yeah, I'd like to see another bullseye ship and a title that adds dice in the bullseye.

REALLY rewards good flying and outguessing your opponent.

Agree

Agreed. Bullseye arc is a nice mechanic generally, and specifically punishes large ships relative to small ones (which I approve of because I like actually being able to use a squad of fighters without a freighter, shuttle or patrol ship tagging along). It's not easy to line up, but it's very rewarding when you do.

A cannon and a bullseye arc would be a nasty combination to have to deal with, but by no means overpowered - a TIE chassis is never going to be exactly 'tough' so when taking a cannon rather than a missile you're paying a premium for the second and subsequent shots you may never get because you're killed before you can fire them.

Agreed on 4-5 (probably 5) hull. It doesn't look as bulky as a TIE bomber but it should be tougher, and shields feel wrong for what appears to be a fighter-analogue to a 'squad heavy weapon'.
