Makwiesel paints Imps (Chiss Shadow Troopers)

By Makwiesel, in Painting

I decided to set my Imperials apart from the standard because, as I stated before, I just can't get the White Stormtrooper look quite right, and I'm sure there will be plenty of them around for me to oggle.

My Imperials are the 4/507th Rakshasa Regiment. They are mostly Chiss "volunteers" that work under Imperial commanders in league with the Chiss Ascendancy. They are used in action on the outer rim in places where the Empire expects heavy casualties and does not want to expose too many of its own troops (not because they care about them, but to deny the Rebel Alliance any victories)

Currently deployed to Geonosis, the Rakshasas are coming the tombs to clear out any last evidence of the birthplace of the Death Star...

I still have a lot of finishing work to do on them, but this force is ready to be in-game and I can actually take most of them to my FLGS without horrid embarrasment.

Most impressive!

Those look tight. Nice conversions.

That. Is. A. Cool. Look!

These are great. Good back story too!

Very original and very well painted

Like more details on the conversions.

These look very cool. Different but still very recognizable and, in my opinion, very believable I’m the Star Wars universe.

Curious where you got the modified arm on the commander.

Thanks, everyone!

I am working on my second Darth Vader that I did a little swap on and then I'll post them both up.

For Kanawolf, these conversions were pretty mild- I just wanted my Squad leaders to each be unique. I left one as is, then for the second I carefully cut him off at the waist and did the same with his rocket launcher squad mate- I swapped them across body for body to yield a standing rocket launcher trooper and a kneeling squad leader. For the third, I clipped off the armpit peg and cut off his hand, rotated the arm down and glued it in, then placed a hand and pistol from a 40k Imperial Guard troop. I also cut the head off- which is more fidgety than it looks with Stormtroopers- and rotated it more to center. I gave him a 40k radio backpack and an ancient 40k Space Marines binoculars pack.

The standing rocket trooper and the kneeling commander are brilliant.

Amazing work and unique idea. I really like when people come up with back stories for their troopers. It adds even more character to the miniatures.

I am doing a squad of Stormtroopers as a squad of survivors of Scariff. They stayed together and Loyal to the Empire even after what Grand Moff Tarkin did. They are going to be traditional white except for their right arms which will be the Shoretrooper armor colors.

I originally painted the piece of trooper armor on my Biv Bodhirick figure for Imperial Assault with a Shoretrooper design and loved it. So I am giving a Legion squad the same treatment.

I don’t have a great recollection of the shore trooper color scheme. Is it just off-white instead of white? You have a picture of your minis?

You can find pictures through any internet search but they are a cream color and have a mixture of red, white and blue on the shoulder and bicep piece. They are not finished but my Biv Bodhirick can be seen in the Imperial Assault thread under C3POFETT's Miniatures.

Mice paintjobs and conversions
