Strategic Adviser Raddus FAQ

By Darth Max, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

Hi an interesting situation has come up with SA and Raddus FAQ and would like to be sure of our interpretation.

Suppose Raddus is second player, drops his payload at the beginning of the round. Then FIRST player uses Strategic advisor to delay his activation. Does that imply that the Raddused ship cannot activate since it would be first activation of the round (regardless that Raddus is technically 2nd player)?

Thanks

Scuttkebutt is, For all intents and purposes, the “intent” is that Strategic Adcisor is used In Lieu of a ship activating ... the Raddus player can activate his Raddus ship after an enemy activation...

RAW on it is more difficult and awaiting further clarification.

I'd say that you can't activate the Raddused ship. That is because with Strategic Adviser you pass your activation and to me that means that you don't activate (nor that it counts as an activation). If your opponent haven't activated anything, then the Raddused ship cannot activate, as it cannot be the first to activate.

EDIT: that is of course if you have another ship that can activate

Like I said, RAW is more complicated and, in certain circumstances, can break the game.

Drasnighta can U point ship that was activated before Raddused one? SA does not activate anything. No faq needed.

To tag somebody, just put an @ before their name and then select it from the dropdown. It looks like this: @Drasnighta

I can't speak for Dras but I believe he is agreeing with you in that it's hard to justify allowing the Raddus ship to activate after only a SAd "activation" according to RAW. He thinks the intent may be to allow it, but that it will have to be clarified as such if so.

On topic, it's kind of a weird case, but I do think it could come up. Scenario: my opponent brought an MC75 and an MC80, and just Raddus-dropped the MC75 in ISD2/GT/ Avenger 's front arc. The MC80 is his only other activation, and if he activates it first it will also be in range of Avenger 's front arc. So I SAd to force him to activate the 80 before I activate Avenger , giving me shots on both ships.

Myself, I kind of think the RAW interaction is intended, and you can't activate the Radish after only a SAd delay.

I believe so too, as both the cards came out at the same time and the writing is quite explicit on SA that you do not activate
