400pt themed rebel epic squadron lists

By Surak, in X-Wing Epic Play

hi all,

I've got a big epic game coming up, and I fancied getting my CR-90 on the table. now the CR-90's play-style always reminds me of the Battle Star Galactica - so even though I've got my squadron more or less sorted (see the other thread), i thought it might be fun to see if anyone else could put together a 400pt BSG themed list.

ships available are;

7 z-95;

4 each of; Y-Wings, T-65, and T-70;

3 each of; Hwk, B-wing, and Auzituck;

2 each of; Arc170, E-wing, A-wing, U-wing, YT-2400, YT-1300, and GR-75;

and 1 each of Captured TIE, ghost, k-wing, Sheathipede, attack shuttle, and CR-90

- to get things started, here is my Battle Star Tantive build.

CR90 Corvette (Fore) — CR90 Corvette (Fore) 50
Wookiee Commandos 1
Quad Laser Cannons 6

Do not underestimate basic PS 4 X-Wings and T-65's. A group of them with their 3 red dice will be able to put out a lot of damage. If you keep them cheap and dont paint a target on their back by using decked out named pilots, your enemy will likely ignore them until they realize its too late.

My favorite ships in epic are PTL Green squadron A-Wings. Either Snap or Crack shot for your other EPT and sometimes I get real crazy and put vectored thrusters on them for maximum mobility. They are so fast. They can go 5 straight, then boost & barrel roll for more distance then do it again next turn with that green 5 straight. Get a pair of them in the blind spot of the enemy Huge ship and then blast away. Dont get too close though. You dont want the tail of that Huge to hip check you when it does a bank turn.

Linked battery b wings, tlt y wings, braylen with r4d6 inspiring and title, auzzies are good for overwhelming them with hp and consistent hits. But that's more of a transport +fighters thing.

Having 4 xwings and 4 t70s I'd recommend running as many of them with flight assist and integrated as possible. Should cover the cr90s weaknesses a bit better than what I put above but less hp.

Another underrated supoort ship for Epic is Lando with Nien Numb crew. Keep him cheap and hang just behind your assault fighters to hand out locks or focus. I was a little hesitant to use him but I had a match a while back where I tried to recreate Gold Squadron from the Battle of Endor.

Dont remember exact build but had Lando flanked by Ion Torp Y's, and then a pair of X's and a pair of A's and 1 or 2 other ships and a transport. I was pleasantly surprised by Lando. He helped the Y's to have lock and focus for a lot of their shots. He also drew a lot of fire which bought time for the fighters to get off their ordnance. I even think he survived the whole battle.
