Shape-shifting aliens are a sci-fi staple.

As long as they remain at least somewhat rare within universe, its fine.

When we reach the point where at least 1 in 3 people in the entire galaxy can shape-shift, then we have a problem.

How do we know that shape-shifters haven't already surreptitiously infiltrated vast swathes of the galaxy's populations?

There might be only 1 in 3 people that haven't yet been replaced by imposters!!

"Luke, I am your father!... by that I mean to say, I am a copy of your father. But, nevertheless, look inside yourself, you know this to be true."

"Noooooooo!... Wait! WHAT?!"

See I think that looks fine.

My original point was that having say 3-4 squads and having exactly 1 in each squad looks a bit rigid/fixed.

Again unless they are full squads, you don't need to use the Duros model.

Mine are full but I have put two into one squad and that leaves 1 squad without any. Think it works well aesthetically....and I like the idea they are brothers, in the same squad.

That also works
