Duros in every squad

By VAYASAN, in Star Wars: Legion

I have some heads on order(back ordered) for my rebels but for now, to get away from the duro in every squad look, I have put 2 into 1 squad and just called them brothers(fighting together for the galaxys freedom).

I kind of like the idea and it makes the other duro free squad a little more viable imo.

anyone else had any ideas how to move away from the 1 in every squad look? (aside from those talented people who can sculpt new heads ;p)

Humans in every squad, meh ;)... Hmm maybe we will get a bothan squad at one point?

Paint one blue and you’ve got a Chiss. Paint one green and you’ve got a Mirialan.

Paint one a redish purple colour and you've got a Zeltron.

Well, old EU lore had duros as the second most common species in the universe, as one of the earliest inventors of hyperdrives. They also are quite adaptable. neimodians are a sub-species of duros, in fact (well, as much as anything old EU could be considered consistent, also no idea if that still is a thing, kind of doubt it). There were just more humans to begin with and they were just as adaptable and expansionist (if not more so), so they became the most common species throughout the galaxy.

So, if we have any species overrepresented alongside humans, it is reasonable to have them be duros.

I think it just looks a bit rigid with 1 per squad.

I chopped a bunch of Duro heads off, and now I have 3 Duros in "Duro Squad" including a Duro squad leader.

Absolutely true. I'd like to make one of my AT-RT drivers a duros, and getting as many of them as i can into one squad could also be fun, but for the first set of minis I'll just follow the basic instructions.

Just to clarify the Bothans as a race have been removed from media and anything that previously referenced it changed to race:unknown, the best example was that although Bothans were a playable race in the Age of Rebellion RPG code book, they were removed from more recent printings of the book prompting speculation that they are effectively no longer depicted as dog like humanoids, but are just unspecified at this time. Only a few canon references exist and none specify what they

My Bothan character (main) in SW Galaxies appears to have gone the same way of SW Galaxies?

It's like I never existed? I'M just "canon" now?

Unless you are taking an extra Rebel trooper every time, you don't need to pick the Duros.

Many Bothans died to evolve this game.

Whaaaa :( I wonder what the thought process behind that is? We can't care for non humans?

Disney might want to have the option for the design for Rogue Two - The Death of many Bothans :D

There may be many rationale for this; they look too similar to another character, for one example.

My hope/thought is that if they keep with bothans being synonymous with spying (the annoying trope that non-human species have a single unifying culture or charcteristc), that they at least elaborate and make it feasible by bothans being shapeshifters.

As it stands, if a race is known for EVERY member being conniving spies, who would allow them anywhere? The galaxy would grow to hate the camel men. But shapeshifter? That would work, and there are precedents for it in canon.

Besides, if you look at bothans in fiction, they have changed several times already.

Too bad there are already shapeshifters...

There are several shapeshifters, actually. Why not another one?

Because that’s Boring and Trope-some?

Shape-shifting aliens are a sci-fi staple.

As long as they remain at least somewhat rare within universe, its fine.

When we reach the point where at least 1 in 3 people in the entire galaxy can shape-shift, then we have a problem.

Everything in star wars is a trope..

Which is what I’m inda leaning to... there are already multiple species ... why add another?

As my reasoning states, a shapeshifter fits the idea of a spy, especially in a human centric Empire, better that a long nosed camel dude.

Logically, the rebels should have known something was up, when the bothans succeeded. I mean how did they sneak in?

Now, of course, I'm not saying they absolutely have to be shapeshifters, but if Lucasfilm wanted to keep the ‘bothans are spies’ trope, then something should make them excel at it, in a galaxy with diverse species. Shapeshifting is one. Cloaking is another. But a scheming Joe Camel would raise a Red Flag.

Look at the Drasnians from the Belgariad, there's a race that has the reputation of espionage, but their primary Racial roles tend to be trade and diplomacy. I figure the Bothans and Drasnians are similar in style, where a Bothan trader will be everywhere, and yes, there's the 80s throwback to the 'Russian fishing trawler' syndrome, but sometimes that trawler is there to catch fish. I figure Bothans have a natural tendency to Diplomats, Mediators, Traders, Negotiators/Lawyers, etc.

I think that their alien appearance is not cutesy alien, or exotic alien enough for the current management. If Chewbacca were to be imagined in today's world the look would be totally different (obviously the dude would wear pants!).

Those mixed squads are a logistical nightmare. Duros are allergic to medigel B and humans can't stand k-rations made of blucrab, which are an irreplaceable component of the diet of Duros. I am on the verge to defecting to the Stormtroopers.
