Large figures moving through hostile figures

By brettpkelly, in Imperial Assault Rules Questions

The FAQ states: Q: When a large figure moves, does it exit all spaces it occupied and then enter all of its new spaces, even if some of those spaces overlap? A: Yes.

If Terro moves in a straight line through a small hostile figure, how many extra movement points does he spend? If you go by the FAQ he should spend one extra when he enters the small hostile figure's space, then another extra as his back space enters the small hostile figure's space. This is the same for moving through a difficult terrain space, 2 extra movement points to go all the way through. Would like some confirmation, because this is not how I've played in the past.

As a corollary: If you enter a hostile figure's space with Terro's head, then he rotates 90 degrees (swings his tail 90 degrees and his head stays put) does he spend an extra point of movement? Going by the FAQ he should.

It's also by the RRG.

All figures move one space at a time and determine the movement point cost for each space moved (unless the move is by spaces and not by spending movement points).

The Large figure gets an allowance that entering multiple spaces with hostile figures does only cost one extra, and entering multiple spaces with difficult terrain only cost one extra movement point (per space moved).

I haven't thought about rotation, but when rotating the figure is placed, so it enters the spaces and thus needs to pay extra costs if any apply.

Large figures can get into situations where they are double penalized for moving over hostile figures and through difficult terrain per the FAQ you quoted. A Large figure continues to pay one extra movement point through difficult terrain until none of its squares enter a difficult terrain space.
