Is scum in as bad a spot as it appears?

Scum are probably the most balanced faction, hence why they are underperforming currently.

Thanks to nerfs, I don't think I'd consider any scum ships or upgrades to be OP.

I would consider a few pilots though. Mainly Asajj, Nym, Dengar, and Fenn.

This is all my personal opinion though.

I think Dengar > Rey/dash, specifically

Dengar's ability is disgusting. About the only way he even loses a straight joust with Rey is through some bull luck. Adding a single die (which is essentially what Finn does, except worse because it starts blank) does not overcome the difference in being able to attack twice nor the difference in PS

The only problem there are exactly zero scum wingmen as strong as Low or Poe. There used to be, but they all had to be nerfed :(

Who goes with Dengar is essentially the same question as who goes with Asajj though. They don't go together without some compromise on one of them.

I can see it now

the Han Solo solo film falcon shows up

it has a good support ability and an ept

Mindlink Densolo becomes the most detested thing since VCX fenn

then they remove the jump's crew and make Mindlink unique

Foresight and planning is lost on on FFG. They resist what is right to balance ship and gameplay. Miranda is the litmus for their arbitrary nature.

We're on the same page then. Yeah, Dengar is still very good, you just can't make a list with Dengar that equals top Rebel lists.

scum has this awkward gap between the high 30s and low 40s

this used to be prime territory for Manny/Tel and Nym, not so much anymore :(

but that's some good design space to work with

I agree with all that you said, except one thing, I have faced alot of Rey with Dengar and my problem is not just her damage output, its how well she defends with 13 health and 1 AGI, She has higher chances of outting 2 evades than Dengar does, and hence why I think she is so powerful.

Don't worry guys. We should get a new FAQ 2 weeks before worlds, to shake things up.
