Squadrons: Can they do anything with no command ship?

By Cboerger, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

What happens to squadrons that no longer have a ship to command them?

For example let’s say I have two ships with a squadron values of 2 and 1 and two squadrons. The ship with squadron 1 is say distance 5 away from the squadrons and the other is say distance 2. The ship with a squadron value of 2 is destroyed.

What of the squadrons? Can they attack or defend themselves if enemy squadrons or ships are in range? Can they move? Are they removed from play? Are they counted as destroyed?

During the squadron phase, an un commanded non-Rogue Squadron May Move OR shoot

So if I follow correctly, a commanded squadron is able to both move AND shoot during the squadron phase?

When a ship gives a squadron command DURING THE SHIP PHASE the commanded squadrons move and shoot (in either order) immediately

Ahh. Now it makes sense. Then the command value refers to the number of squadrons that can both move and shoot when the ship issues a squadron command.

Thank you for the clarification!

Exactly ! ?

Yes - for example you could have a ship with a Squadron Command value of 4, and in your fleet build you may take 8 squadrons. You're not limited by that ships squadron value when building a list. Only by the 134 squadron-point cap as per the normal rules.
