New Solo Trailer Today

By Imperial Advisor Arem Heshvaun, in X-Wing

Just watched it. It ticks the SW buttons, bar sabers, which is to be expected.

But I couldn't relate to the character as Han from this ,admittedly short, sample. The tone, the pose, the mannerisms. It ain't there.

I'm sure my daughter will force me to take her, but I'm not drawn. The same movie, same plot (apart from - "I know who you really are" WTF?), but a different main character, and I'd be more enthused.

It's cool though. Disney is pushing SW for the new generation, who have far less association and love for the OT characters than those who grew up withh them as heroes. I'd imagine that after twenty or thirty minutes I'll get over the Han swap.

For me though, this Han is far less believable than CGI Tarkin or Leia.

Tin foil hat time:

L33 can be internet slang for lee.

7

seven has two sllyables.

Bo

Bo has one syllable.

Seven divided by two is 3.5.

3.5

.5 is also two syllables.

Do you see it?

.5 has two syllables

7 has two syllables

Half of 7 is 3.5

half of two syllables is one

therefore:

we can sub L3-37 for Leebo.

L3-37 is new Leebo confirmed.

Wait ... Wait ... Did I just manage to use a The Prince’s Bride quote in a Solo thread?

The prophecy may yet come to pass ... Trump will be impeached! ??

@Alpha17 I was trying to be ironic. ?

Doing or not doing, there is no trying!

Is this thread devolving into a quote duel?...

... well, just remember, it's all fun-n-games until someone loses a hand!

( don't make me use J. Walter Weatherman to teach you a lesson )

Visuals are stunning but i just can't get hyped for this.

That last scene in the trailer was kinda stupid... will Chewbacca die or will Han rescue him... can't wait to see how that will play out in the movie.

I find this criticism really odd tbh. Does a lack of jeopardy make you not enjoy a movie?

Do you really believe at any point that Luke is going to be killed in the OT? Does that stop it being fun?

Did knowing the plot of the Lord of the Rings movies in advance make them any less good?

Did Titanic suck because you knew the boat was going to hit an iceberg and sink?

There are plenty of new characters whose fates we don't know, if you're worried that everyone will live. Based on how Rogue One went, every single one of them except Han, Chewie and Lando will be dead before the end of the movie XD

They present is a s a cliffhanger in the trailer. The resolution is something that the audience is supposed to be looking forward to in the movie.

They want to show the stakes of the heist but in the end there are no stakes for Han, Chebacca and Lando. So why not use a different character? One we do not know if he/she will survive or not.

It is just bad marketing.

We did not know what would happen to Han after 5. He might as well die inside the carbonite. So there were stakes.

I did not know the plot of LotR when i watched the movies and from the reactions of my friends who did know the plot i had greater enjoyment out of the movie. The movie was still great to all of them.

The Titanic was just the backdrop for the story. The sinking of it was the least important part of that movie.

Saw the new trailer. I thought it was alright. I have to agree with others that i’m not seeing much of Han in our leading man, but I wasn’t that optimistic on that front to begin with.

That said, this trailer did tease some stuff with Chewie that could be fun. Been excited to see Lando since he was cast. L3-3T shows some promise. And there are more side characters that might hold a gem. It also looks to be a visually fun.

So much this!

Prequels were the same you never had any concern that Anakin would get crushed in the factory or gored by a beast, you knew obi wan would come through a okay and so on.

This movie adds nothing, it will in fact detract from hans mythos.

Hi @Alpha17 what World War I movie would you recommend?

Depends on what you're looking for. For sheer majesty of a film, Lawrence of Arabia is a good film, though you have to take everything with two grains of salt. One because it's a film, the other because it's based on Lawrence's stories. Warhorse was also surprisingly good, though the focus on the horse does tend to warp how/what they show about the war. The TV miniseries Anzacs is excellent, and one of my favorites. It's pretty much Band of Brothers , but WWI and with Australians. Showcases the changes men go through during wartime, without trying to drown the audience in the melancholy so common in WWI depictions. For the American involvement, the A&E remake of The Lost Battalion is pretty good. Not quite accurate, but not bad.

Supposedly an adaption of the Harlem Hellfighters graphic novel is coming out this year/early next. I personally can't wait.

EDIT: If you're into docudramas, the "Our World War" miniseries on Netflix is a decent overview, but it's heavy on the dramatic.

Another of this ilk is Gallipoli.
