Rebel Traitor Clarification

By Sir_Servo, in Star Wars: Destiny

My group and I are super new to the game, I just built a Sabine, Greedo, Rebel Traitor deck that is quite fun, but we are unsure how Rebel Traitors ability is supposed to work.

When I activate Rebel Traitor do I get to choose which of my opponents characters to activate, or do they get to choose?

Thanks all,

Servo

All you get to do is force them to activate one of their characters, they get to choose which one. The card would specifically say "target character," or "Choose an opponent's character" if you got to choose.

You can house rules whatever you want, but FYI Sabine cannot work with Greedo & Rebel Traitor. In the bottom left corner, where it says "Hero", "Villain", or "Neutral" you cannot mix Hero and Villain cards, unless it's a draft/sealed event.

DOH! Thanks for the catch. Like I said we are super new to this game. While we know about the villains and heroes rule, this one slipped through the cracks in an excitement of ripping open packs and wanting to build a deck around Sabine, but also wanting to build a villain deck. IG-88 will have to take Sabine's place for now and I'll have to go back to the drawing board for Sabine.

OK, so this game relies on the 'target' and 'choose' words in rules text. Thanks for the clarification!

Yep. The game is pretty keyword centric.

And if you're not aware, FFG updates the full rules on the Destiny site. You can find the Rules Reference Guide and other support documents here.

All good. I figured that was the case. The best decks to use Sabine currently are eSabine/eEzra or Sabine/ePoe2. Greedo and Rebel Traitor haven't seen as much competitive play, but being on the cheaper side of things, I'm sure you can find a home for them. If you have elite Greedo at 11 points, you can put him with Mother Talzin elite (12 pts) and a FOST (7 pts) to give you 30 points and all 3 colors and 5 starting dice. If not, at 7 points, I'm sure you can fit Greedo into any deck.

Good luck!

I have yet to play test the deck, but I dropped Sabine and Thermal Detonator for IG-88 and Vibro Cutlass.

I'll revisit a Sabine deck in another week or two. My time available to play/build decks is limited due to family schedule. So I like to work on one deck at a time before moving on. Due to the amount of villain stuff in the deck it was easier to replace Sabine than to rebuild the deck from scratch.

So IG actually likes thermal detonators a lot. With his special and the constant removal of the thermal, he can actually cycle it a couple times which is amazing, if you get it to work.
