I know Duke lets you actually start with the extra sanity upon game start, but what about the other allies? If you start with Anna Kaslow, do you get the extra two clue tokens? I would assume so, as that's part of what makes the ally who they are. Allies that have non-item gain text besides their skill check bonuses still function normally (exhaust to reduce stamina loss, etc.) , so I would assume these guys do too, but I couldn't find it answered anywhere.
Extra stuff from ally during game setup?
It's not clarified anywhere, but I'd assume that you do get the "stuff." As you said, it's part of what makes an ally an ally. Why wouldn't you get Tom Malone's spell, but you would get Armitage's magical resistance ability?

Agreed. I can't think of a reason why you wouldn't get items that come with an ally.
Of course, under some circumstances you may want to not get the item. Imagine a game with the Dark Pharaoh as the herald and you get Ruby Standish as an ally. "Oh thanks for the item, now I lose another sanity".

I said wouldn't, not wouldn't want ;')

Point taken. Just like your medicine ... you may not want it, but you've got to take it.

Ruby? Yawn. What about Sarah Danforth? Is any item gained from her worth the blood-boiling curse?
What about Ali Kafour during a game against Y'Golonac? Or starting with William Bain, when the doom track has no tokens?
Or... starting with Professor Rice, against... Ghatanothoa???? Certainly you're not required to take both clues on a location, but the temptation will be hard to resist...
You could always acquire Professor Rice just in time for Yibb-Tstll to awaken. BLARGF

Are you not required to take all clues on a location when you end movement there? I know that it was ruled that you could destroy the extra clues when Yibb is in play (or at least I remember that in protoFAQv2).
Btw Tibs, what is the next step in the proofreading? Are we waiting for Coltsfan to do something, or should I start on something else?

I could swear I remember reading somewhere that you are not required to pick up all of (or even any of) the clues in a location, that you can leave them for other investigators to pick up.
Edit: Stupid edit messing up the quote function
Spend an hour digging through the forums and it was in the blasted manual.
Page 8, picking up clues. "Any time an investigator ends his movement in a location that contains clue tokens he may immediately take any or all of those clue tokens" (emphasis mine). The wording there certainly seems to mean that you don't have to take all of them.

Definitely means. Interesting (even though it's usually not applicable). Thanks :')

Man, say it ain't so. So someone with Amnesia could keep picking up Clues even when they have 4 (limit from the Madness)?

Avi, explain to me what the hell this means. Because I just had a game with Yibb, and a large part of the enjoyment was taunting the players with less than five clues to pick up more or else Yibb will eat us.

I need to double check (I'm not at the right computer), but if I remember correctly, you can end movement on a spot and destroy the clues that are over your limit (if you're already at maximum capacity). I'm 90% sure of this. I'll double check later unless Tibs or someone can say something?
Q: If Yibb-Tstll is the Ancient One and an investigator who already has five Clue tokens ends his movement in a location with a Clue token, does that Clue token remain at that location or is it discarded?
A: Investigator's choice.
Looks like you can do it. I like this idea actually, because it forces a tough choice.
Oh.....fine. Is there some kind of Yibbish thematic rationale that Investigators would rather destroy knowledge than leave it or keep it?
Just that investigators can't have more than 5 clue tokens while Yibb stirs in it's slumber, and then that it's combat modifier is set to minus however many clues are on the board. I'm playing against Yibb right now, and drew Rex. Love love Love not being able to pass his personal story.

Oh, come now. Just get Changed, find Granny Orne, learn Mythos Lore, and dig up both Research Materials. All before you seal a gate.
Piece o' cake.
No Kingsport board this game, so that eliminates a lot of that plan. Besides, Yibb already stomped my poor little investigators into the ground.
