I mean... We saw specialized troops in every movie even in the OT.

This is nothing new. The trend of "I want my own version of stormtrooper armor for my movie." is a very core star wars idea.

BUT TFA had the

- Flametroopers with different helmet, weapons, as well as armor

- Riot troopers (FN2199), again, different equipment (shield, electric baton thingy)

- Snowtroopers, everything is different again

So even TFA counts.

Excitement levels still not there. Maybe I will be positively suprised? At least they aren't setting me up for disappointment.

Is that...a Star Destroyer under construction in the opening scene, there? Definitely looks like the hangar bay of one in the sky, with some kind of skeletal frame around that, and maybe the bridge superstructure being floated up in the lower right?

I think that whole opening scene is supposed to be a construction yard - even at 1-2 seconds in, as the scene pans up to the sky, you can see what look sort of like Star Destroyer lower hulls on pylons above the cities in the distant upper right.

Well I’m certainly more optimistic about this one. Looks better than Disney’s last venture into Star Wars.

Still not a fan of them messing with the Falcon but I like the premise they’ve set up.

Hopefully this is Corellia we're seeing... Cause it's a cool place and it's where Solo is from originally so... It would be nice to keep that in canon, is all I'm saying.

In the wide shot of Corellia, we see three possible Imperial Class ships, or at least the Iconic arrowhead frames to them.

It'd tie in well with Han's like from ANH: on outrunning Imperial starships, 'not the local bulk cruisers mind, I'm talking about the big Corellian ships, now'
