Hello, I have been thinking about getting into the Runewars miniatures game; however, none of the factions intrest me that much. I have always been more or a goblin/orc or dwarf/gnome kinda guy. I haven’t seen or heard about any new content in months. Is the game dying or is there some sort of release schedule that I am missing?
New Content?
Things have been on hiatus as they pushed Legion out the door. More is coming. Whether Dwarves/Gnomes and/or Goblins/Orcs are coming... no one knows yet.
Edited by AetheriacLegion buried everything. Now that Legion has rolled out, consistent releases for Runewars should be a thing. FFG has a sort of pedantic approach to news. An announcement article a few months in advance, a reveal article a week or two out, and a product available article for each expansion. Since the releases were delayed, their reasons for releasing new articles were stopped.
Upcomng releases:
Darnati (Latari melee infantry)
Wraiths (Waiqar technical unit, a light cavalry that cannot be stopped)
Scouts (Daqan technical unit, a light infantry with deployment shenanigans)
Kethra (Uthuk second hero)
Berserker Expansion
Spined Thresher Expansion
Flesh Ripper Epxansion
There are no announcements past those, but no reason to doubt that there won’t be.
As for orcs, goblins, dwarves, etc.: Not even a hint of those yet, but it sounds like there were a lot of team ups. You may get a dwarven infantry pack for Daqan. I believe Orcs teamed up with Uthuk at some point, so they could be involved there.
Edited by Church14The last faction-based game in Terrinoth to get more than 4 factions was Rune Age. It started out with these same four factions and added Dwarves of Dunwarr and Orcs of the Broken Plains. So those are certainly the two most likely factions if they're going to announce more anytime soon.
To find more than 6 factions, you have to go all the way back to the original Diskwars. The lore seems to have changed enough since then that we can't really look there for predictions, but orcs and dwarves definitely had factions (among many others).
So goblins seem unlikely on their own (I don't think a Terrinoth game has ever had a full-fledged goblin faction) but the other two seem very likely.
Is there any reason you particularly want these factions? Is it simply for the theme, or is it for anticipated game mechanics for those types of units? If the latter, is there anything in particular you're looking for? There may be something in the existing factions that matches what you're looking for.
Theme has always been king for me. I have to like what i'm playing. From a mechanics side of things, I prefer to play aggressive factions in other games. Or factions with a lot of utility.

You may or may not find the Uthuk workable for you. While they lack the underground theme of dwarves/goblins/gnomes/orcs (though the orcs in Terrinoth aren't primarily an underground race, as far as I can tell), the Uthuk turn the aggression factor up to 11.

This depends greatly on if the glass is half full, half empty, or full of p*ss
I've definitely thought about getting people to proxy existing armies. Trays and dials make it a pain, but if you happen to have a 3d printer they're far from insurmountable.
Orcs in the GW sense would be quite well represented by Uthuk mechanics.
<Complete Speculation>
I think we'll see the new unit boxes show up across the next several months. (Like 2 dropping a month which would be consistent with the schedule last sumer/fall)
Then I think if there are any new armies as well as additional new units, that'll get announced at Gencon.
Just feels right.

Dream request... I'd like another dual core box with Orks vs Dwarves!

I’m an engineer and physicist. That figurative glass is is always full of something. Be it air, water, vodka, p*ss, viral culture, or a pile of all of my own figures I’ve killed because that’s how Uthuk roll.
Seriously, don’t try to do the glass half empty.

I wouldn’t do a dual core. Too many players already had to deal with splitting new armies with the original core. But I would absolutely get behind a Dwarven Army box
If we get another army box, to me that’s a telltale sign of a long term commitment to the game and it’s longevity.
as it stands: I expect uthuk expansions and darnati to drop at the same time. Wraiths and scouts within two months of that. Then some other light content to be announced: uthuk ranged, latari special.

I think your correct, with the caveat that they should have the Uthuk special get announced same time as the Uthuk ranged. That would make the last catchup wave one Latari and two Uthuk boxes before moving forward with all factions running even releases
I'd love to see what Viper Legion looks like in this game. I'm curious to see how they'll do poison.

Whoops! Left off the uthuk special. I agree. I really want to see game state when that happens. Long term, I’d like to see a third hero to each faction expand their variety.

Being that adding an army and balancing armies starts getting exponentially harder I would definitely agree with this.
Also after playing Dragonholt and Descent, I would love to see Dwarves, Orcs, and Dragonkin(name?). I don't know what a good 4th faction would be, but I'm good as long as it's not cat folk.
You mean 8th faction. We’ve got four already and a few more easy adds. To me thst looks like one of the main ways to expand the game.

How about some sort of cult faction? A hyper religious army sworn to hunt demons in service to their deity?

Yes. 4th new faction.

That may be too realistic to today's world to fantasy escapism for me.
I have heard orcs on terrinoth aren’t exactly classic orc rabble, more Warcraft intelligent orcs, so some sort of slow, high damage, mid range armor type army would be cool, with lots of varying attack initiative. Dwarves would be tricky because Daqan is already the tank faction. Are terrinoth dwarves tech oriented or are they hammer-smashing lotr dwarves?

The 1 health 1 shield spearman wonder what is this 'tank faction' label of which you speak?

Maybe Dwarves could get a white +1 def. That would be more tanky than +1 blue/green def.

I really wouldn't want tech dwarves... I like the hammer-smashing variety much better. Has anyone read the Terrinoth role-playing book? What kind of dwarves were represented in that?
Also please don't mix dwarves and gnomes as a single faction. That would be a bummer.
