Some folks swear by Engine Upgrade on RAC
RAC with Engine is just so fast! Plus you can bump and boost behind and get a 4 dice modded shot on the ship you bumped (via dauntless). 64 point RAC is solid, just remember to kill at least 33 points of other ships in case you get down below 1/2 health. Vader or Quickdraw will fit in 36 points (no missles on either), and neither really cares about an initiative bid with VI. Personally, I still love Soontir at 34 points for my ace. But you get so many options you could almost take anything you fly well.
It's been a pretty solid list for a long time, running RAClo with either of those aces. I'd recommend picking what fits your playstyle better. Vader is much better at arc dodging and gets those consistent crits while attacking, letting you save Palp for defense dice almost exclusively. QD loves to joust and trade a few shots early. She's a bit more aggressive than Vader and it's harder for her to dodge arcs up close, and you'll probably want Palp to pull out crits to trigger your ISYTDS and get those clutch blinded pilots.
In either case, RAC is going to be your opponents primary target and he'll get focused down pretty quick if you can't dodge arcs or at least bump enough of your opponent's ships to deny most of his shots. Plan around that, and that list should carry you pretty far.
I would agree with EU in theory, though I don't think it is stapled to RAC. I often wonder if Palp is really necessary on RAC, but lots of people roll with him, so it must have use.
I'd use QD for your wingmate though, no question

I've given my friend this advice before, but it really depends on your meta
against the ghost...yeah palpatine makes sense
because the alternative is hotshot co-pilot + gunner, which is basically essential if you're facing off against thruster aces
I have used a slightly different build lately

Adapt can be switched out but i used it to make him a nine with my other ace. To me navigation gets its use better then dauntless. After your opponent moves you should know what you can change it to so u don't bump. Then kylo or boost out of arc if you can. You can add the title still, up to you but it frees points and nav also helps to avoid bombs and potentially missile range and stuff like that.
I have done well outside of tourneys with it. Took it to a tourney but got bad matchups and i didnt fly well. First game was against rage chewy so pretty ineffective against that lol. 2nd game against Rey and Miranda my dice didnt like me and couldn't get hits. Unfortunately i had to leave after the 2nd rd. I'll probably take it again soon and hopefully not get anothee chewy lol
