When PCs are defeated (Mask of the Pirate Queen)

I'm reading through Mask of the Pirate Queen right now. My question can be applied to most adventures, but in this particular context I'm talking about at the end of episode I, where they have a battle at "The Vault" in the Blackwind Crater. What as a GM do you do if the PCs are defeated in battle (but not killed)?

Interrogate (who sent them, how much does zann know, what are his next moves), strip of gear, leave to die in the jungle crater

Confiscate all their gear and leave them, nekkid, in a holding cell where the ventilation shafts service the corridor outside and not the cell. Then the ugnauts come in with the freezing cold water and hit them good, just to soften them up for when the Boss arrives to interrogate them.

How does the opposition usually operate? When in doubt, just have the bad guys do exactly what the PCs would do to them if they had won. Usually this means kill them and take their stuff.

Or another idea, that requires some more planning.. offer them to switch the side

FWIW, I assumed that already happened and the PCs refused as offering to pay them off is written in to the module. The fluff for Sorority operations also says their MO is only 1 chance to surrender, otherwise they take no prisoners.

That being said, I did just think of something which wouldn't be obvious. Consider: The Queen wants to execute, but Mandy suggests leaving them to die via the animals and the Queen agrees. When Mandy kicks them into the jungle she plants a note on them saying, "call me" and a comm code.
