What are the tournament scenarios and deployments in the new kit?

By Drakoniss, in Runewars Miniatures Game

Playing on Saturday and can’t find them.

Page 7 of the tournament document:

" For the following season—starting in April, 2018– the following deployments will be legal: Careful Approach, Standoff, and Unprepared. Starting at the same time, the following objectives will be legal: Supply Raid, Demoralize Their Forces, and Confluence of Magic."

Have fun, guys!

Thank you sir

Careful Approach again? <sigh> . Although to be fair, I've gotten much better at controlling the field in Careful Approach.

That was my thought exactly! I'm mildly excited about losing Bounty for Confluence of Magic, bit I am really hoping Volatile Runes makes an appearance in the coming seasons. That one is great!

I’m a little concerned that all of the objectives now favor MSU. Even if you don’t feel CoM favors MSU, it certainly does not favor DeathStars.

I lost Hammer and Anvil (a favorite) for a rather boring/straightforward one. Unprepared isn’t terrible, but doesn’t affect my Uthuk directly at all

I'm not. Swinging the meta back and forth some between styles is a healthy thing for the longevity and freshness of the game. It'll promote some units within armies, and will present other armies with challenges they weren't previously encountering. I feel like that's a good thing, so long as one state or another doesn't outlive its welcome.

It will be especially interesting to see how Uthuk fare in an MSU meta. I've kind of wondered whether their dominance in the latter half of the Store Champs meta was due to a relative lack of MSU. While I haven't had an opportunity to play against them, they seem like they're very good at eating enormous units for breakfast, but could be laid low by focused counter-charges from smaller units where they suffer from a large amount of overkill on the unit they swing at, but then have to weather attacks from more dice with smaller threat. It's not like they have armor that needs to be surmounted by high threat, so we'll see if a nudge towards MSU from the objective side is what the meta needs to not be dominated by Uthuk winners.

You could be right about Uthuk. It’s my experience that MSUs tend do do more damage overall but struggle badly against armor. So that may be a way to fight Uthuk.

I also approve of a game encouraging chanhes changes in the meta. My concern is that the three objectives, three deployments is supposed(?) to force you to have to have a army capable of dealing with many situations. It’s a way to reduce hyper-specialized builds. The current selection just scream MSU. When the next Tournament Regulation update drops, If they have three DeathStar encouraging objectives, then I’ll be happy with the current batch.
