Seeing lots of cool images of people moving heads around the troops in the Core Set.

Also saw someone who did an amazing sculpt of an Ithorian head out of green stuff from scratch.

For someone with no sculpting experience, does anyone have any idea where I would be able to get in scale heads to put on my Troopers?

Human heads? Alien heads?

The last thing I wanna have to do it fork out crazy $ for a warhammer box just to get some alternate heads to put on Troopers.

If you want some of the warhammer heads, look on ebay or some of the bitz resellers, a lot of them have just parts you can get such as the heads

Gadzooks Gaming is making some alien heads. Look to IA, although you have to pick and choose heads that will size well with the body. 40k heads, specifically imperial guard heads may work well. I don't know how to sculpt heads either and as much as I would like to, sticking to pre-made heads can still work well.

You can always paint some faces red/purple for Zeltrons and blue for Pantorans/chiss.

Most heads you will find are roughly 28mm in scale making them significantly smaller than Legion minis. I hope Fantasy Flight decides to release some customization packs in the near future. If they don’t I’m sure third party companies will fill the void.

And then the question becomes, what how much head altering is allowed to still be tournament legal. Obviously not everyone cares about playing in tournaments, but sometimes if something is not, even a casual game opponent can raise an eyebrow if you are bringing stuff that FFG decides is not legal.

So many of us a clambering for official rulings on things like this when it comes to mini customizing... because we want to know what we can and can not do. I hope there is some level of leniency because I want to see some customizing of things like that. AND the rebels should have more non-humans.

I've been contemplating a Gadzooks purchase, but I don't have the extra funds at the moment to change heads and then find out I'm not tournament legal and have to buy more rebel troop expansions (and paint them) if my then currently altered heads pose a problem with whatever eventually becomes the "FFG standards for play."

Certainly not definitive, but I'd expect a ruling on head swaps to be treated much as customizations are in X-wing and Armada. FFG doesn't mind if you customize, as long as the ship is still identifiable. Can't see any reason Legion would be different.
