Yea, people tend to lose their minds whenever we see a Scorpion preview, these cards are not that good.

Having said that, I think Liar's Mask and Opium Wastrel are best among them. Wastrel is a cheap conflict character and helps with high glory honored enemys or your dishonored characters.

Im waiting to see what/who Bayushi's Whisperrers are, maybe From the Shadows will work with them but in general I dont like that dishonoring part. Some shinobi actions (like Discourage Pursuit) requier dishonoring, which From the Shadows blocks

Not saying that the cards are OP, but you are massivly underselling those spoilered cards.

I think these cards have some potential, but I also feel like all of the "6 or less honor" restrictions are going to feel very claustrophobic unless you stick with the original stronghold, which I suspect most scorpion will do. 6 is an uncomfortable range without the ability to siphon an honor every turn.

I like that Lion mask in Phoenix, though.

There's bound to be some inside-out and outside-in view points on both sides but man...remember when people said Fate Worse Than Death sucked because Censure and Voice of Honour existed in the format...and Kachiko sucked because she was a conflict character and would get Court Games'ed on play?

Its almost like the Scorpion players like to downplay how good their stuff is. How weird.

I feel like the real issue with the 6 honor cards will be that if you start the turn at 6, if you bid 5 you could end up at 2 which is not a good place to be with a bunch of self dishonor cards. But if you bid less than 5 you could end up gaining honor and not being at 6 which turns of a bunch of cards.

Contingency Plan may actually be an important part of that deck.

I'm sort of questioning their design philosophy and wondering if it's from the school of thought (not just in L5R LCG but in other games) where if you spoil a faction/bracket/character with choice, they couldn't possibly run everything . So if they get awesome military and move, they couldn't use that alongside their political burn.

I'm most likely not making sense but just trying to reason this somehow.

I'm surprised that they didn't spoil a counter character like they did with the Phoenix pack

I really like the synergies that shinobi have. The jumping in-out hand / conflict can be really hard to predict and force decisions on your opponent.

With Shoju / Aramoro, the burn deck should have enough consistency. I hope there's a «Shoshuro Apothecary» that interacts with poisons, maybe lowering cost or recurse.

The shinobi seem to be all about controlling / wrecking the board with the obvious honor / hand weakness. Curious to see how it will perform against wide conquest decks.

Kind of curious what the new 5-cost character will be... Yogo Junzo? ^^

I'm more inclined to say Hametsu: he fits into the theme a bit better, I think.

The funny part is Scorpion is very strong right now (as evidenced by their domination of Toshi Ranbo) but they always cry about their supposedly weak cards. Meanwhile other clans who have been struggling just put their heads down and try (and wonder when they will get their LONG overdue Clan Packs).

Could you explain which clans have LONG overdue Clan Packs, please? Could you also provide the date(s) those packs were supposed to be released (as they obviously can't be overdue if no date was ever set, right?) too, please? Just curious as to where the information you're basing that supposition on came from.

  • Mantis, Yoritomo's Alliance,
  • Gencon 2017
  • My hopes and Dreams.

That Alibi Artist is really good in the original stronghold. The 1 cost slot has a pretty steep competition.

You need to get into the spirit of this....EVERY Clan that is disadvantaged or does not yet have their Clan Pack feels they are way overdue :D

Not every Clan. Spider haven’t said a peep. ??‍♀️

?

That's because they're hiding in the shadows, watching, waiting, biding their time... By the time you've heard their complaints it'll already be too late!

Feelings are one thing. Presenting something as fact, which the original poster did, is something else, and completely incorrect.

I'm all for calling FFG out if they do something wrong, but just flat-out making stuff up doesn't sit well with me at all. I've noticed none of the information I asked for was provided, which would of course have been surprising, as it doesn't exist.

If someone is going to complain, they should at least do it about genuine things.

Way to miss the point. It is a fact that some clans are weaker than others and the thought that it is better for balancing when weaker clans get their expansion first is a reasonable one. That youre rhetorical questions weren't answered shouldn't surprise you.

I'm not missing the point at all - I addressed a poster who stated that " (and wonder when they will get their LONG overdue Clan Packs)." For those Clan Packs to be 'LONG overdue', there needs to have been a stated date or release schedule. Neither of those things is true. You can't call out something that simply doesn't exist.

Like most people that play the game, I would like to see a more even card pool. I've offered feedback and suggestions about how to achieve that both on here and in emails to FFG/Asmodee, because L5R is a huge part of my life and I want it to be as successful as possible. However, I try and temper my desires as a player and a consumer with at least a basic understanding of how the industry works - no amount of helpful suggestions can accelerate playtest schedules, or change the order of print queues, or (if as assumed, Clan Pack release order is tied into the creation of Clan novellas) suddenly make writers write faster. Those and other factors are beyond both our control and our knowledge.

FFG have clearly listened to feedback regarding the Clan Pack release schedule and have made very positive changes. That's fantastic, and something they should be applauded for. That's a great example of a company addressing concerns and taking steps to improve a situation. It shows that there ARE genuine issues with the game that we can address and try to help fix. Imaginary release dates is not one of them.

I love the theme of peasants advice.

Like, "Hey, noobs, ya'll like all big and haughty 'bout that Celestial Order thingie of yours, but, anyway, ya'll have to admit that...

...

Dammit, I cant think of anything good to continue. That happens when you try to be cooler than you are.

?

Peasant's Advice is going to be in so many decks it won't be funny.

And lets be honest with the fate curve they run in their conflict decks Offer Testimony may as well have been printed as a Scorpion card.

I like Utaku Tetsuko, Unicorn are getting more interesting characters with every announcement ? ☺️
