Elemental Cycle & Scorpion Pack Spoilers
Text for Pragmatism and Yasuki Broker from last Elemental pack.
Dang, the Yasuki are all about murdering their comrades! And Pragmatism looks pretty solid as well. I'd typically pay 1 for +2/+2, but I guess it depends on the deck and how low you typically drop. As for Specialized Defenses, I like it better than Disdainful Remark, but it'll be tricky to use, so I think ultimately it'll be a no-go. Maybe if Phoenix ever had cause to run that Secluded Sanctuary or something. Sick Combo with Know the World!

If you are first player or can dictate the ring selection based on board state Specialized Defense may be better but for now its kind of restricted. Add the Earth Trait and its even weaker. Maybe if Crab had Seeker of Earth so they could double up on an Element type and try and try and force your hand on Earth, but for now its probably a pass for most crab decks.
Pragmatism on the other hand is a godsend for Shuichi and will likely make him the scary beast he was pre rise of the Scorpion decks.
The Broker I'm even less impressed with as its a little to limited but could make an interesting economic engine when paired with Taka and all the Sacrifice tech that Crab have. Just not sure the engine is better than what Crab currently has to work with.

So Pragmatism splashed in Phoenix with may be something to consider, Specialized Defense with your ability to swap rings would also be very useful. Finish up with a light splash of Maho Goodness and you may have a solid Crab alliance deck build out of it.

I want to like this Yasuki sacrifice economics but right now it seems constrained to the conflict phase, for understandable balance sake. I guess I'll wait for next cycle...
Maybe a super awesome combo with that Waves meishodo that makes tokens? I think the problem is a lack of repeatable sac outlets. If there were one that were unlimited use, maybe someone could do some silly stuff.
Edit: So, Force of the River makes tokens that leave play at the end of the conflict. Am I right in thinking that would be after the conflict, and therefore they would not have courtesy/sincerity anymore?

That is an interesting card. Lion splash is something I will need to try again between this and My Ancestor's Strength.
I like it that they’re starting to link different effects to the resolution of rings (instead of the normal one, not plus). I hope is a trend that grows and not just stop with the Elemental Cycle.

It actually looks like the Unicorn conquered the place from the Lion. The Unicorn version looks damaged by battle, and the trees have been cut down to build the stables in the foreground.

I’m predicting that the last fiction will follow after Family Duty, and revolve around the conflict between the Lion and the Unicorn at Hisu Mori Mora (now Hisu Mori Toride), and between Shono and his ex—fiancée Mitsuko.
Oh sweet, I was resigned to waiting until next week for those. It looks like Ethereal Dreamer was NOT the novice for Phoenix. At least a relevant type line for the clan, but I'm not a big fan. Being a 2/3 for 2 after the condition really doesn't impress me. If it were a conflict character, I'd be impressed (little too strong, I think, especially with Inquisitive Ishika), but at least it's a bit versatile.
A lot of interesting stuff for dragon here, though. Their Agasha shugenja is preeeetty strong as far as tutors go. Don't need favor? Sure, go get a Stone of Sorrows! And I can see some great use from Being and Becoming. There's usually always fate on rings, so at the least you can keep a character with a strong passive around. Mostly I'm thinking of Phoenix here (naturally), so a semi-permanent Shiba Tsukune, Isawa Tadaka, Isawa Atsuko, etc. And if you can ever snag two fate at once (or pitch a unique to add an extra fate) you can actually swing with them too. Or Against the Waves whenever you're ready. Pretty crazy, but also pretty expensive.
Magistrate Station's pretty exciting too, but tricky. At first I thought it was a holding, along the lines of Unicorn's new Encampment, but as a province itself, it means you're going to need to get it flipped up, and then successfully defend it. I have a feeling a regrettable number of these are going to die on a productive first turn. But if it sticks around, suddenly you're getting double use out of your honored character every round, which is almost game-ending. I think dishonor and/or bow tech is going to be going up in value after this cycle.
