Madine MSU with trcr90s

By sasska, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

Hi guys! I just made that list and Im really curious wheter its going to work or not. The core idea is turn, turn and more turn. With ET and Madine a Cr90 can turn 180° which is quite a lot. So let me know what do you think about that.

CR90 Corvette A

  • Crix Madine (30)
  • Turbolaser Reroute Circuits (7)
  • Engine Techs (8)
  • Reinforced Blastdoors (5) = 94

CR90 Corvette A

  • Turbolaser Reroute Circuits (7)
  • Engine Techs (8) = 59

CR90 Corvette A

  • Turbolaser Reroute Circuits (7)
  • Engine Techs (8) = 59

CR90 Corvette A

  • Turbolaser Reroute Circuits (7)
  • Engine Techs (8) = 59

MC30c Torpedo Frigate

  • Ordnance Experts (4)
  • Assault Proton Torpedoes (5) = 72

4x A - Wing Squadron = 44

Total: 387

My experience with fleets like this is that they do well as long as they don't encounter Early Warning System (or Cracken, but that is less likely). Early Warning system takes your damage from 3 to 2, which sounds like nothing, but it means it is braceable to 1, not 2, which actually will effectively HALF your damage output. This is a serious issue with EWS being all over everywhere currently, and might be enough to have you reconsider whether or not this fleet is, at this moment in time, worth running.

They also really struggle against Cymoons, especially a pair of them, as they will one shot a CR90 at red rage in some instances.

All in all, this fleet is incredibly hard to pin down, and with activations going down you might see some real success with this one, but it still struggles to win hard as losing 2/3 vettes will eat into your MOV.

If you are playing over a beer with your friends and want to troll them with a hard to hit MSU, then this is the fleet for it. I would be concerned about showing up to a tournament with this one though.

Thank you guys!

Actually I haven't read this article before, but now I revised my list and dropped one ETRC90 (haven't heard this before, but I love this name) and add in two GR-75 for more activation and change the A - wings for 2 X - wing squads, Biggs and I take the Moldy Crow for more defense.

Yes @BrobaFett, you are right with that EWS thing. I hope I can successfully dodge it and hit a different hull zone... As for the Cymoons I'll try to avoid their front hull zone, and force them turning and hope they'll end up some kind of bad position. Also I have a sufficient bid at 15 pts which should be enough for being first player so if one of my ships ends up in bad position maybe I can save her next turn before it gets destroyed.

My real fear is a Slone fleet. Most imperial squads have at least speed 4 she usually uses (thinking of all the TIEs). And speed 4 is high enough to catch my ships.

Forget madine, your ships have plenty jaw already. What they lack is survivability, and its Cracken who can provide them with some.

Another note: 13 point bid is nothing if you want to be p1. Might be only my meta, but if you want to be p1, its roughly 20 points you bid, if you dont want to bid this high, just spend the rest, as most fleet bid mostly 0-5.

Im getting first about 50/50 with a 21pt bid. Often find myself in a roll off for it.

This is why I dont build fleets needing p1 anymore. 20 point is where you can field an extra comms net transport...

Unless you play empire, and I am considering dropping coms to go to 23 just to edge out things. Problem is though, Empire wants to bid HARD for p1 because that is where their stuff has been shiny since wave 2. But right now, bidding for P1 just gets you ****** by Bail anyway. Fact of the matter is, P1 bidding is in a really hard spot right now. Most times if you are bidding hard it's cause you have pryce, but pryce is countered hard by second player pryce, bail, and raddus which makes her extremely susceptible to getting countered by pretty much every competitive fleet.

But rebels are better at bidding for and winning with second player AND they have bail so the one weakness you could exploit is no longer a weakness. Wave 7 is REALLY tough for the empire. Pryce and Bail really screwed that whole massive number of Imperial fleets over. But sorry, that's tangential.

Back to the topic:

GR-75 Medium Transports (18 points)

[ flagship ] CR90 Corvette A (44 points)

= 87 total ship cost

8 YT-2400s ( 128 points)
= 128 total squadron cost

Note: W7 dropped since, and shook up the meta.

Nice one. I guess 8 YTs can provide enough AA. Maybe you are right and it worth to swap Madine to Cracken, but I want to see that guy flying and winning. By the way I lost with my list yesterday, but the performance of my fleet was good, I just made some bad decisions. Anyway I shall give a chance to Craken as well.
