Rules Reference 3rd Party Printing Release?

By flvolunteer, in Star Wars: Legion

Works for me, on iOS too using iBooks.

I'm thrilled they went to a online rules. So much better in keeping the game up to date and active. People who want to use a tablet are happy, and they didn't have to spend any money on the printing of rules that will be obsolete soon.

And those who want printout rules are easily satisfied by printing out what they want. I test printed the book in black and white on my home printer. 28 sheets of paper and some ink. Hardly any cost. I should have printed it at work so no cost!

About this RRG PDF, anyone else having problem with the weight of it ?

All the images are hi-res including the background. Most of my devices are super slow to display it. Making reading it a painful experience...

Yep, it took about 10 seconds to load some pages for no obvious reason. Made it totally unusable. That was on my decent motoG5S+ phone.

So I printed it off at work :)

At only 8.0 mb, if you have downloaded it locally to a smart phone and it's still choking.... It's the phone or an OS problem or something unrelated to the file.

At 8 mb this is a low res PDF.

So I tried several pdf readers on several devices (from eReader to last year MacBook Pro). The pdf is always slower to display than expected. The trick is that some readers are siplaying a low-res version of the page while loading/interpreting the document giving a sense of speed.

It 's not the size that matters but the organization. At 8 MB, it can be an highly-compressed PDF.

I'm not having any issue on my phone. Every page is quick and without lag in coming up, even when swiping back and forth or using the index to skip around.

That said if I was having issues, one could very well load the pdf in Acrobat Pro and re-save it using the reduce file size setting?
