Wave Community

With many begging ffg for a new wave 8(and I haven't even opened my chimera yet) I thought I'll open up on what imo is a more useful "wave". I recommend more official content release! for tournament or otherwise casual, more casual really. Take the station was a good step imo, different scenarios that allow players to try out fleets and lists in different ways to play. Taskforce 200 was community-made but very good. cc also, but perhaps we could get a new campaign with a sleeker better ruleset and gameplay. "mission control" module like x-wing. The idea is to have content that would increase diversity in the hobby and help build community.

What other ideas y'all have? :)

Will they all be worth taking? Or am I getting 7 Targeting Beacons and 1 Solar Corona?

I wonder what the restriction is for new designs on cards from the Worlds winners. Can they design a new objective? A new ship card for one side or another?

I would love it if FFG released a booster pack of objectives for each year, so we'd just use the 2018 objectives until the 2019 objectives came out, for example. Would allow for the chaff to get fixed/retired and the too-good to get tinkered with just a tad. Keep diversity up, mess with common builds, etc.

Organized League Play (maybe with season objectives or ships) with official FFG support would be awesome.

What I'd be hoping for is that with 8 new of each color, we'd get like... 2-4 Solar Coronas. Then with 16 potential objectives, we could start a rotation of 4-8 objectives per color that are permitted for the "season" - however long it lasts. Maybe we could have Store Championships / Regionals tied to voting on which objectives are included.

and rework the old ones and some of the upgrades that are just bad. I wouldn't mind a "balance wave" that just reworks stuff that doesn't work and add new objectives

I'd rather just see them revisit the existing objectives and buff some of them up to be more tempting choices. As it stands now, I feel like you really only ever see two objectives from each color get used by fleets. Why not boost the unpopular objectives so they can compete with things like Most Wanted, Solar Corona, and Contested Outpost.

Seems better than having to find thematic parameters for 24 new objectives, would just further bloat the pool and overwhelm newer or less experienced players.

I'd like to see a pack of freighters with several convoy attack/defence scenarios.

Commerce protection (and conversely commerce raiding) was and is one of the primary duties of naval forces. Scenarios to represent this, along with commercial vessels to attack / defend, would be a great addition to the game!

objectives that allow for skewed points match up... or just a re-work of the current objectives to make them to increase the incentive of using them.....

BUT (and its a massive but) in a cheep affordable package... ie a small blister/clam shell pack of just 10 cards or so where you end up paying more for the packaging than the contects but still only about a tenner..

Since you can only use 1 of 16, it is actually 93.7% that won't be used.

All the different objectives can be pretty intimidating for people just getting into the game. While learning the game you have to learn 24 different scenarios as well! It'd be better if they just re did the objectives all together, since after, most wouldn't be missed anyways.

I love this idea! A series of blister packs, each containing a single small base freighter, cargo upgrades that provide bonus Victory Points, 1 objective of each color, and a special scenario. Throw in cards, tokens and rules for stationary weapons platforms, and we have some truly amazing options for non standard Armada games!

I would like to see something other than Advanced Gunnery and Most Wanted.

I think I agree with this. My concern about adding 8 more per season is that eventually you get LoL levels of selection to the point where nothing feels unique and power creep rules the day.
