Poll: Shiny stormtroopers vs dirty/battle worn

By Evad04, in Star Wars: Legion

Curious on others feelings towards stormtroopers. I personally have an affinity for the clean shines look of their armor, but am on the fence as to if I should add some dirt and grime to their legs etc.

what is your preference?

I'm going to add minimal weathering using thinned stormvermin fur, I think less is more when it comes to weathering on stormtroopers. But some variation is okay considering i'm running 3+ squads. The armor should have some shine to it so i'll probably use a paint on varnish. I'm more or less going to be following sorastros guide with some minimal changes as I go along.

Both look good, but the weathered look is probably easier to pull off for newer painters.

Worn out and battered! Always!

Shiny white is maybe the worst thing to paint ever. Definitely a little grit on mine.

I tend to use weathering to cover up mistakes. So blaster marks, dirt etc. also they should get dirty, they’re fighting a war. The only clean models should be officers, royal guards, Vader, etc.

It also depends on how you are basing them. I am doing mine on snow so to add a load of dirt would look out of place in the environment I am putting them in. Whereas, if I had chosen say Dagobah, then it would have been a different story.

Dirty, they have been in combat. Also, dirty is easier for me to paint and cover up mistakes.

Mine stormtrooper have just disembarked from a star destroyer, so their armor is factory new. If and when they will release sandtroopers, them I'll have them weathered.

On the other hand some weathering on the bikes riders is due

Mine gonna be all shiny and chrome...er, well. Red .
