Raddish Hammers

By comatose, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

(No, that's not an autocorrect.)

I have a couple variations of Yet Another Raddus Build that evolved from a similar concept as Dodonna. Both of these use MW/CO/SC for objectives. For both of these lists, I'm looking for tuning ideas, not completely overhauls. :)

The Home One QTC variant uses Quad Turbolaser Canons to get the Hammerheads to pump out at least 3 reds/1 blue before CF dial on the Disposable Capacitors turn, one of those dice a guaranteed accuracy and no blanks so long as the reds don't roll more than one blank. It has no squad counter other than killing the main carrier as fast as possible. Home One is usually the ship being dropped, and it's built as one of the common tanky builds but still quite capable of doing a lot of damage. This list was in 1st going into Round 3 at Adepticon, but some poor maneuvering choices knocked me out of the lead in a 7-4 loss to the Gen Con 2017 champion.

The Paragon variant uses the A-wing aces and a pair of generics to partially remedy the Home One QTC variant's weakness against squads. The Hammerheads are rolling 2 reds/2 blues before CF dial on the Disposable Capacitors turn, removing some of the red die variance. In its first test run, Paragon Boarding Trooper/double arc'd an MC80L which set up the MC80L to die from three Hammerhead shots. My opponent's MC75 also nearly died, and I think I would have pulled it off with some better dial selection on the Paragon Raddus drop.

I don't understand what Strategic Adviser is doing for you on Home One. Are you really wanting to delay activation after H1 comes into play? I feel like I must be missing something.

Lando would be good in that seat.

In a red-range oriented fleet, you want your opponent to move before you, moving into range. Lando isn't relevant in the vast majority of games because most opponents are not going to attack an MC80 with EWS/RBD since it will take a lot of shots to kill. The Hammerheads are going to be the first targets because they are easier to kill and do a LOT of damage. Against a fleet where that risk needs to be managed, Home One can operate behind the Hammerheads while they act as a picket line to defend the Home One from the biggest threat, primarily ISD Avengers. If that doesn't work, Engine Techs makes it possible for Home One to escape a lot of hard aggressors.
