Selflessness vs. Crack shot

By gjnido, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Does one resolve before the other?

or is it initiative based?

Crack Shot happens in the "Compare Dice Results" step, #6 on the flowchart. Selflessness happens in the "Deal Damage" step, #7 on the flowchart. So Crack Shot happens before Selflessness.

Consider: Selflessness depends on uncancelled hit results, which can only occur after an attack has hit. Crack Shot, however, happens before the attack hits.

Thanks. I wasn’t sure if Selflessness happened at Compare Results or Deal Damage.

Technically Selflessness happens at Step 6 as well (since it's when the attack hits) but you're 100% right that it's after the window for crack shot.

Crack Shot happens before you determine whether the attack hits or not - so it can make an attack that would have missed, hit. Selflessness happens after the attack hits, before damage is dealt.

Does it? I know that Prince Xizor, per the FAQ, happens in Step 7, so I'd have presumed the similar Selflessness happens in that step as well. Neither Draw Their Fire nor Selflessness address this specifically in the FAQ.

Huh, interesting. They use different language but both language sets happen between 6iv and 7i. I would have stuck Xizor in the same 6.5 window but since he doesn't reference attacks hitting at all I think they just stuck him somewhere where it was definitely post-hit.

I think we are going to need a 2-page flowchart for combat to take into account all cards and interaction.
