A true legion

Not really. When you are talking about a Galaxy spanning Empire, you'd have to have your military organized in very large units. Especially when you are considering a unit might be pulled up and sent to an entirely new planet. The canon numbers for star wars armies are actually laughably tiny.

The Forest Moon of Endor has a diameter of 4900km, or a surface area of 75,429,600km. Which would give a Legion of Stormtroopers about 6,285km PER STORMTROOPER! Even if we cut that down to just the equatorial zone, you're still talking about a huge area the legion would have to keep locked down.

To be fair, the rebels can have the rest of the sodding moon, so long as they don't take out the shield generator.

Ha! In this same movie Chewbacca roars like Tarzan.

but its not littered with stupid unnecessary jokes all the way through.

the Imperial officers of my childhood were serious people...serious dialogue about serious matters.

Seems to me now they just prank about and are pretty incompetent while they wait for the next joke/comedy.

Rogue one was great, TFA decent enough for TLJ set the tone with jokes right from the off, coming thick and fast.

Just in case anyone is thinking of building a Legion... some physical facts...

A standard Legion game table of 3 feet by 6 feet is only 2592 square inches- and each trooper's base fills about a square inch, so on a standard table you could only even fit less than a quarter of a full Legion standing shoulder to shoulder and nut to butt. Go up to an older 40k standard 4 foot by 8 foot table and you can field 4608 of them, still not even half. Even my monster game table designed for playing with lots of armor and aircraft at 5"x 10" can only field 7200 of these Stormies, and if I add in the leaf which pretty much fill my basement for a 5"x15" table, we're still short of a full Legion at only 10,800 troopers. I guess the other 2000 are on sick call or leave or in the brig for too much drunken sabaac... and at all these measurements there's literally no room at all for any opposing forces.

I'd still like to see someone with a 5"x 20" table build, paint, and display this... let's see... at 7 guys a pack you'd have to buy 1829 of them at 20 bucks a pop for about $36,571 bucks. That's assuming you could even find that many and that Fantasy Flight made that many.

WHo's got a scale they can weigh and give me an average weight of a Stormy ? (I'm on travel and don't have mine with me)

you've missed out a couple of things with your numbers.... how many stormies are assigned to the bikes or AT-ST /AT-AT formations? what about chariot assault vehicles? etc etc etc

:P
