Encounters in Space

By SJE, in Rogue Trader Gamemasters

I spotted this in the WFRP Gods of Madness thread forum.rpg.net/showthread.php and thought what an interesting RT encounter that might make-

Quote from 40K fluff bible
On worlds where Champions of Chaos attain daemonhood or death there are monoliths to their memory just as on the Warhammer World. Cosmic monoliths are tablets, flat stones, or death caskets that float through space itself. They can celebrate a Champion whose mortal life ended while battling an engagement between space fleets. Often they orbit a world, transmitting their inscriptions to passing craft or projecting their image directly into spaceships.

So, what would your players do if they encountered a Chaos Champion monument floating in space? Especially if it couldnt be destroyed by lances/guns?

Take it on board and move it somewhere? Interdict the system? Try to sell it?

Or if its destructable, dare they do so if it will earn them a terrible Chaos curse - perhaps the Warp turning against them every time they translate into the Empyrean?

I would ride it like a mighty space steed.

Here's a thought, a monolith that has been turned into a mini-rock by orks. Deep underneath all that greenskin tech/garbage lies a malevolent inlfuence giving their ship the favor of the warp winds and driving them mad with a constant psychic dial-tone.

It might also make an excellent prow mounted ram, especially if the champion was of Slaanesh......I christen thee "Violator of the Void" or "Shaft of Forbidden Pleasure" Complete with a monsterous phallic ram.

I am a bit surprised from your post.. Is it really happening...?
