Star Wars Icons Missing from Armada

By eliteone, in Star Wars: Armada

Chewbacca, C-3PO, and R2-D2 are the obvious ones, as already mentioned. Zuckuss and 4-LOM are absent.

The characters that I'd most like to see are the rest of the cast from Rogue One, especially General Merrick, Cassian Andor, and K2-SO.

I would also like to see Captain Rex added at some point. Maybe even Ezra too.

There are so many from Rebels that could appear: Kanan, Ezra, Rex, Chopper, Zabine and Zeb. And we definitely need more Lando, I don't care how. Commanders of Wedge, Luke, Han, or Lando would all be great.

We need U-wings, and Blue squadron would be nice.

Obviously we need Piett, but hopefully there is a reason for that. Along with a boarding team that is Storm Troopers.

We're missing one very important man-

From a gameplay perspective i want a rebel sloane equivalent. I have no idea what said character would do but I feel like wedge would fit the bill.

As in, "buffs Rebel fighter-swarms"? Because Rebel fighter swarms are already good bombers, unlike the Empire's, and decently tanky (at least by comparison).

Not that I've got anything against a card or two that would let some of the less-loved squadrons see more use. Just, in general, Rebel squadron lists are already pretty thematic - Xs and As, escorting Bs and Ys, and a handful of light freighters running support roles - whereas, pre-Sloane, the Empire didn't really have the ability to set 10,000 TIEs on a table as a viable build despite that being their primary modus operandi.

YOU DO NOT PUT THAT HORRID CREATURE INTO THIS FORUM!

Hey man, just cause she is secretly a spy for the FO doesn't mean you need to blow your top on her

Um...

Seriously...

Piett!

From the original trilogy:

Rebels:

R2-D2 and C-3PO: This should be a combined card to represent them together. I think having them as a pair would be more entertaining than splitting them up and never seeing one or the other.

Han Solo (crew): Han could be a great officer or Commander option, but in either case he's a military veteran with a high profile in the Rebellion. Could also make a great boarding action card.

Chewbacca: Chewie could be a great crew member for quickly repairing a small ship, or as a boarding action.

A note on Luke: Unless there's design space opened up for another Jedi force trick ability,

Imperials:

Emperor Palpatine: Obviously, Palpatine is a Commander level card, but he might be best as an officer that directly influences the commander in some way.

General Veers: Veers would probably work best as an officer leading a special boarding action, reflecting his expertise in ground combat.

I’d like to see Luke Skywalker (Jedi) as Admiral.

His ability something like twice a round turn a blank dice to any face.

30 points.

and since we have clone war characters (Ahsoka, Hondo) we should get Ben Kenobi etc.

Thing is, they are their Rebels versions, not their clone wars versions....

Ben Kenobi should read: when X, do Y, discard and replace with Kenobi Force Ghost.

Kenobi Force Ghost: Does Z

Basically, one big cool, one shot, defensive type ability, that is then replaced with a minimal constant ability.

Ben Kenobi- Support Slot, 5pts.

Before the spend defense tokens phase, you may force your opponent to reroll one dice of your choice.

If the ship this card is equipped to is the target of a Boarding Team or receives any Raid token, you must discard this card.

Putting it in the Support slot prevents abuse by Admo, but gives a boost to Nebulons, Pelta's, CR-90's and MC80's that is strong.

More of a Rebel correlary to Montferrat with a slightly less powerful effect but slightly more niche discard requirement. I would expect a roughly similar cost (monty is 5 as well)

The only problem there - rules wise - is you need to define “Boarding Team” officially.

Yeah... I was trying to find an elegant way to put that. "If your opponent discards a boarding team card and the ship this card is attached to suffers it's effect?" I dunno.

But again, what’s a boarding team?

We know colloquially what they are, but it lacks a rule definition.

At the moment, all they are, are dual upgrade cards.

not enough room to say:

”Boarding Troopers, Boarding Engineers, Darth Vader Dual Upgrade, Cham Syndulla, Jyn Erso...” and of course, even if you had that, there is no future proofing there....

Its One if those things that’s really easy colloquially but really difficult technically to define readily and expansively.

Ugh nothing like semantic rules talk to kill my buzz. I'm done trying to participate in actual Armada talk and going back to just posting memes in an attempt to distract people from the general malaise going on here.

(nothing against you Dras, of course! You are just the messenger)

I was legitimately trying to help.

pointing it out is my first step to discussion to try to find a solution. ?

I know, for me I sometimes just wish there could be a rule that just said "Use your **** logical brain, and if you can't reach a consensus, pack up your toys and go home"

I don't know what things are officially named and which aren't we have gotten to the point where things have gotten colloquial names that have pretty much eclipses the actual names. Anecdotal example off the top of my head- the the repair command. Everyone I know calls it the engineering command because it is based off your engineering value. It's the repair command, but colloquially we all know what is being talked about, and I wouldn't tell my opponent he missed his opportunity to get a REPAIR token because he said he was going to take an engineering token instead.

I dunno, I know my way ends up being MORE problematic, but I feel like for these things, the solution is to just put a definition in there.

Boarding Teams - If a card involves some of your guys going over to mess with their ship, it's a boarding team, because use your **** logical brain.

Millenium Falcon - You can only have one copy of this ship, because your **** logical brain.

I know you get shat on because you bring this stuff up, so sorry to participate in that, just worn thin on the semantic issue lately.

I think it is more likely that the only missing figures we are going to see are those that have unique ships . For example Piett (although I can imagine this pack having Palpatine in it too).

Give me Lobot in a cloud car.

The second ISD pack proves the unique ship idea wrong (sort of) though so eh.
