I think I've decided that the best thing about this game is the mission selection system. I'm the sort of person who writes a pile of lists and actually uses about 10% of them. Even with wave 1 I've written lists with heaps of troops or heaps of vehicles and basically minimum troops, both sides etc. I keep looking at a finished list and going, nope that will suck against X (vehicles if I don't have enough impact etc) but then I remember that there will be plenty of times I can't really kill all my opponents ****. It's ok because of missions and it's doubly ok so long as I pick a mission that helps me. There's so much hidden depth to these things that it's great.
I think my favourite part of this game is the mission cards...
This is something FFG has been evolving through multiple games, and getting better at each time.
BattleLore scenario cards, Armada objective cards, Runewars Objective/Deployment draws, and now the Battle Card elimination system.
They keep games fresh and interesting, and introduce a little competitive element prior to the first turn.
Edited by TvayumatFrom my limited experience so far, I completely agree. I think it’s well done, simple, and keeps the games interesting.
