1v1 X-wing (42 point list)

By Cleto0, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hey guys!

I wanted to get some friends into X-wing and wanted them to play "competitive" 1v1 lists. This means a small ship base that is less than, oh 42 points. Go crazy!

Isn't that pretty boring?

One of the players is going to have a better ship than the other... I imagine something like Poe Dameron always reacting to a lower pilot, always staying behind the other ship, always firing him, while the other one can't do anything about it.

If you have got two or three ships, you could at least fire back or do something about it (like blocking for example).

The 100 points game is just perfect...

Thweek

Both titles

Auto thrusters

Fire control systems

Glitterstim

Advanced proton torpedoes

With a four point bid you are going last when thweek copies there pilot ability. They you can pop glitterastim and use the torp when in the best position.

If you haven't done this before, I would suggest avoiding the 1v1, or significantly decrease the size of the board. 1v1 can be rather boring if they don't fly aggressively (or know about all the maneuvers). No turrets, and no regen.

A game store I'm going to for a tournament next month has one of its steps in this format, except they're doing matches with both small v small and large v large base ships. For large base I plan to use an IG-2000 (it's the only large base I own lol) but for small I might do darth vader with VI for the exact tactic Schu mentioned, always staying out of arc and just working the board until you gradually work your way to where you can fire and they can't. It is reduced space though, I definitely wouldn't recommend using a full-size board for 1 v 1.

We play this format a lot at our FLGS. It used to be PS11 Vader who won. Then it moved to QuickDraw at PS11 with Harpoons. Lately Thweek has ruled the roost as the strongest end game ship.

If I remember right, 32 to 35 points works best for this kind of thing. With 32 points allowing some of the PS 7 guys to really come out and play.
