Armada is dead

By ryanabt, in Star Wars: Armada

...center of my gaming universe although I also play Bolt Action, Flames of War, and will get into Legion. What other (lesser) games do you play?

#armada4life

But I also enjoy some forbidden stars and pandemic once in a while

Armada is perfect for me as I only play ded gaems.

I've got two fully painted Warzone Resurrection armies and four fully painted Firestorm Armada fleets. Then also Warmahordes and Infinity which are only half ded but in my area are basically ded.

(JK though I get plenty of Armada games in and am having a blast with this game)

Bingo!

Well, sure. Everything dies, Armada just dies more .

Makes it kinda uniquely impressive, really.

I don't play it as often, but that's because I also have Cthulhu Wars, Rising Sun, Gloomhaven, Terraforming Mars, Scythe, and other titles to play as well.

Pfft what DON'T i play? I've been gaming for the better part of 32 years, and have no desire to stop now :D

Neither do I. Armada is still my #1 table top game. Won't get into Legion, have no time to paint and set the whole thing up.

One thing is really important with this game is, even without any support from FFG, all what I need is there.

As long as I keep all my stuff, there will always be a combat between the Force and the Sith on my table.

Armada will always live!!!

P.S. What ever will happen in the future for this game (more than 10 new wave, Epic scale, a third faction, sequel ship, etc...), just don't forget to give me Piett with my SSD.

One good thing about boardgames and miniature games is that unlike computer games, if you put them in your closet it will be still playable 30 years later. So even if they stop producing the game, people will keep playing the game long time after.

We play a lot of Castle Panic in our family. Mostly because it's fast and Co-op. If you love casual games, check it out ;)

I get together with my friends nearly every week to game. We've done a ton of Zombicide, but we'll play a whole bunch of other stuff like Pandemic, Dead of Winter, Boss Monster, ect. My pal provides the games, so I've lost track of all the stuff he's had us play.

I like what I've experienced with Legion, but it feels like it's more like a have fun game than a competition game like Armada.

Ah, Zombicide... a game I wish I hadn't invested so heavily in... I really enjoyed it when I first played it, but after picking up almost every expansion in quick order, my feelings towards it dropped pretty rapidly as it's dubious mechanics became more obvious, even introducing some house rules to clean up game play somewhat.

I think we agree on that. It's fun. Mostly brainless fun. But the expansions definitely turn the game into some sort of odd power creep. And the rules can get... Muddy.

I just enjoyed using the minis for painting practice.

I would like to get into bolt action but it's way too much painting for what little time I already have. **** I haven't got around to paint any more of my squadrons in armada.

Star Wars Armada. Dying since 1899 :P .

I'm playing Bolt Action too and did not start the paint job yet. They are all on the primer. I'm playing German and all my soldiers are on grey primer and my vehicles on sand primer. They look good enough for play with them and have fun.

All my squadrons in Armada (my primary games) are paint and I can understand what you mean by it takes time to paint them, but like some other will say, you can have fun even if your squadrons are not paint. So it's the same for Bolt Action. The game mechanic is supposed to be more important when you play than what your miniatures looks like.

Bolt Action is a really good game, but Armada is at my eyes, the best one of all :)

Aside from various board games, I'm playing Armada, Infinity, and Dreadball. I do have a Wrath of Kings starter I've been considering painting up and trying, and a Guild Ball 2-player starter that I have primed.

EDIT: Had to add, there's nothing quite like playing Catacombs at board game night at a brewery.

Armada - and also FFG role-playing games. The Star Wars lines mostly, but just starting up a Battletech campaign using Genesys (same basic system as Star Wars rpgs).

My first jump into miniatures was Zvezda's Samurai Battles, still have six standing armies. I gave up my X-Wing collection to start a Flames of War collection (X-Wing is still an excellent game). Started IA mostly to play a Legion-style game eventually but still have a large collection and enjoy playing. As for Legion...yeah, bought two cores, one AT-ST, one T-47, and one Stormtroopers expansion and went crazy with custom terrain.

It's not enough.

FFG better come through with the SSD for Armada, and an AT-AT for Legion!!
