I'd hope they're just trying to divert attention from the toxic mess of ghosts and Wookiee, but... yeah, the focus on Quickdraw is worrisome. She's the glue holding the Empire together right now. Without her... the Empire is going to fade into irrelevancy unless a lot of things also get the nerf hammer.
New Article- Dark Days
Just who wrote this article? There's a weird "the meta is fine just look at this one system open!" stance to the whole thing. I hope that this is just the opinion of some random guy and not what FFG actually thinks. Because if it's the latter, we have problems. The whole point of the Adepticon fiasco was to get FFG's attention on the state of the game. Let's hope that's not in vain.

Even that system open isn't a sign that the meta is fine once you remember Scum is also a faction.
Quickdraw is not going to be nerfed. Not even FFG is that inaccurate. ("Only Stormtroopers are so precise ... ")
The article shows a continuing in their tendency to overevaluate the meta from one tournament.
I wouldn't mind a slight nerf to quickdraw. The fact she's border line auto include in imperial squads obviously shows she's a bit too good for her points.
If I nerfed her personally, I'd make it so her revenge shots can't be modified.

Quickdraw is absolutely fine. The only reason she is an auto-include is because she's the only small base empire ship that's a reasonable jouster in this bomb and munition diseased meta. Focus her in one turn and she gets off one return shot. The end.
Edited by vieditThe 'meta' at the UK system open was very open and varied.
However, the 'meta' at the Cardiff Regional was full of Nym & Miranda; the 'meta' at Element Regional (North East England) was full of Ghost/Fenn plus some Nym & Miranda - and then there was a big anti-meta movement in an almost co-ordinated way people at Beanie Regional (North West England) took stuff that wasn't either of those 'big' lists, with a lot of Expertise and a lot of Rey (often combined).
The system open showed that nationally, people were continuing to avoid playing either of those lists. There were quite a few Ghost/Fenns around, but mostly run by lower tier players. And many players had practiced against it and knew what to do to win with what they brought. I only know of one player who did well with Ghost/Fenn, getting 5-1 on day 1.
It will be interesting to see what shows at the top cut for tomorrow's Sheffield Regional.
so if the QD nerf comes true despite having no reason to, can we re-title this article "Dark Days Ahead"?
qd nerf?
no actual nerf in the works, hopefully, just suspicions arising from the article's peculiar focus on how often QD pops up in imperial lists

This is what I got, too. And oddly timed to coincide with a Europe vs. NA thread right here on these very boards.
And to all our fellow X-Wingers in Oceania, SA, and Africa. . .sorry you only get the "elsewhere" nod. Apparently FFG doesn't know the names of any continents in the Southern Hemisphere.
Empire wins an event, meanwhile the forums:
MiRaNdA MiRrOr MaTcH Lo0PiN ChEwIe!
The article probably focused on QD because they don't want to praise the half dozen rebel NPEs that need a nerf. There's also the fact that there is a QD alt art coming out soon so they probably want to push sales of SFs. Jumping to the conclusion that the article foreshadowed a QD nerf was faulty logic at best, trolling at worst.

Is this a theory you have or has it been discussed elsewhere? Thanks for bringing it up because it would be interesting to know there’s a movement among top players to avoid meta lists.

QD shows what an arc based jouster without regen needs to be top tier competitive in the current meta - an extra attack or two that are modified. The Imperials don’t have the turret ships or the utility that Rebels have. The reason she’s in almost all imperial lists is precisely that reason. Nerf her in that manner and you’re going to see top cuts full of just Rebels.

It's simply my observation from paying attention to the fuss over Cardiff and attending the other 3. I'm not a top player myself and not privy to any discussion that might have taken place. I do know that most of the mediocre players like myself and my friends never considered taking Ghost/Fenn or Nym/Miranda although we did practice against them as much as we could. I only fly lists that I can enjoy losing with - because that's what will happen! (At least some of the time.)
Whole article felt like FFG saying:
"Hey look over here! Imperials won something! See? Everything is fair and balanced! No need for us to put any further effort into balancing the game!"
Random reader, "But what about the Gho-"
FFG, "Everything is just fine! Fair and balanced!
Random reader, "But-"
FFG "F-A-I-R and B-A-L-A-N-C-E-D!!!"
Maybe that wasn't the intent, but... Sure seemed like a shell game of an article.

When you've waited 47 days for news on the X-Wing fix and this is what you get instead....

If they do this I will riot
Nerf Herders do not care about your faction,
They just want to nerf whatever they lost to.
Your Quickdraw has been marked for elimination .

Well these articles are there to advertise the game. It seems pretty sensible to highlight the event that did the unexpected rather the one that ended in a boring stalemate/protest.
